Title: Bardis Studios - Poppy & Spiros
Post by: Hels Bels on May 16, 2007, 04:07:36 PM
Arrived back on Monday after staying at the Bardis Studios, wish we'd gone for 2 weeks. The Studios are very clean, with a maid coming in every day. There is an 'oven' (the small table top one), with 2 rings on. Electric Kettle. Nice Big Fridge. Plenty of crockery and plates, the shower does have a curtain around it, (which is unusual for Corfu in my experience). Storage space is ok, only 2 small drawers, but plenty of hangers provided, and there is a large shelf to store the shorts etc on. Usual on the Balcony, 2 patio chairs and a table. I love the way the towels are placed on the beds when you arrive, just the little touches like this make a difference.
Go down and have a few drinks in the evening with lovely Poppy & Spiros, and we thought he was such a quiet and shy greek gentleman! (Oh and girls, Bobby is a very very very nice man! George is the same attraction for the younger folks! Very Nice Lads)

Had a lovely time, Roll on next year I'd better book up now!

I'm sure Bobby has plenty of admirers, I'm sure my hubby doesn't mind me looking! I was just giving helpful advice should any single ladies go visiting!

Nope, nothing wrong with looking!!

So Hels Bels, i assume if you booked with Nancy, you flew with Monarch, can you tell us how the flight was and what the plane was like, cramped or ok??  Food etc??
Title: Re: Bardis Studios - Poppy & Spiros

We flew from Birmingham in an Airbus (I think) the first 6 rows were extra leg room, we were lucky on the way back to be allocated those seats as there was loads of room. The others do seem fairly cramped when you first sit in them but you soon get used to it.
The only problem we had was that as Bham is a new route for Nancy our seats were allocated, but our names hadn't been entered on the computer, so we had to register them first (after queueing already). Nancy did ensure me that these were teething problems as Monarch had changed their systems and not everything had been updated by them. (the same happened coming back).
The food outbound was brekkie, it was standard aircraft food, you wouldn't eat it normally but it seems to taste ok when you're flying. Coming back was bangers and mash. Flight crew really helpful & friendly.

Corfu airport was closed first thing due to fog so a number of early flights where being diverted, we were lucky as ours was at lunchtime so the fog had lifted in time.

I have to say Nancy was excellent, on the return journey she followed us at each stage of the process keeping us updated, and ensuring we had no problems, a really personal service. I'll defintely book with her again.

We go Monday.  So EXCITED!  2 weeks in the Bardis Sun.  Hoping the weather is good as I have bought lots of sun crea.  Sadly the diet didn't go too well so there is a bit of a panic at present in the household as to what I can sunbathe in and whether I will scare the other bathers!  Never mind, I am me, and so long as I get to Arillas that's all that matters really.  Can't wait.  Glad everyone had a great time.  Wendy & Stuart. :o)

I am so glad I am not on my own on the diet front!   I have had the same problem in the swimwear department... everything stretches, just not enough of it...  All good fun though!  I just keep thinking everything looks better, even the wobbly bits if its all browned off a bit!

That's what I keep thinking, you don't notice the stretch marks and the fat when it's browner (I hope!) and if it rains, I'll where a mac!!!!  Will let you know how I go on.  W. x

Got back last night from 2 weeks at Spiros & Poppy's. We always enjoy being in Arillas but the little extra touches in Bardis studios made ie extra special.
Sparkling clean, linin changed twice a week, and loads of hot water all the time, the best water flow and shower that we have had while there. A lovely family.
Nancy from Corfu escapes is a very nice lady and from the moment we got of the plane at Corfu to the time we left, made sure that we had all the info we needed.
We will certainly use them again. Viv

Hi everyone (and especially Babis if you are reading the Forum messages!)   We are really looking forward to coming back to Arillas and to Bardis Sun Studios on 4 June - this is our third holiday with Poppy Spiros and the boys (well young men now really)

We just love the times we have spent there with the family and as you say nothing is too much trouble for them to please their guests.  We just love them and Arillas!

Hoping to meet some of the Forum fans while we're there.  Let us know if you'll be at the Studios from 4 - 18 June.

Counting the days .....   Jeanette and Alan (from Northern Ireland)

Nick

you will have a lovely time.  Poppy Spiros and boys are so friendly.  I dont think in all the years that i have been going on holiday that anywhere has been as friendly as the people in Corfu and especially Arillas.

Enjoy

We arrived back last Monday.  We have been to Arillas many times but never stayed at the Bardis Sun until this year.  It was fantastic in every way.  Great flights with Monarch both ways.  Direct transfer, 45 mins. to resort, courtesy of Corfu Escape.  A welcome that you will not beat anywhere, I can guarantee.  The room was lovely, the tops for cleanliness.  Big soft towels, maid service daily.  The view of the hills and sea from the balcony was breathtaking.  The pool was glorious and cleaned daily as was all the poolside area.  But most of all, the service and kindness shown to us from Poppy, Spiros, Bobby & George was just overwhelming.  We really did feel as though we had become part of the family.  Everyone loved them and loved their place.  So much so that bookings for May 08 were almost full.  So, with no time to waste, we nipped down to the Internet Room at the Malibu, went on line and booked for next year whilst we still had chance......and so cheap!  Oh, and we are going in September too.  Greedy I know but can't get enough of a good thing.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  Hope all those going love it as much as we do.  I am sure you will.  Wendy.

Wonder if anyone can tell me if the studios at Bardis have air con?? just thought of that after I looked at the weather today!! Also how hot can we expect it to be in July? only ever been greece in spring before and that was hot! Hotter the better as far as we're concerned (can always go in pool or sea for cool down! Thanks

Hi, I questioned that some time ago and was told there was air con but at a charge of course, they might have fans too for hire.  But Smiffy might be able to correct this if its wrong.

We always go the end of June begin July or at the end of Aust begin Sept.  and its always hot, hot hot!!!

We go next Monday to the Bardis and are so excited!

They definitely have air con.  I am sure the cost will be reasonable.  Don't know about fans but they are so helpful I am sure that they will oblige wherever they can.  Have a wonderful time and post a report upon your return.  Enjoy! x

I certainly will, thank you,  but it will probably only echo what Smiffy has already reported on which was very good.  It will be our first time there so we are looking forward to it very much.

You'll know them all even better once youre there Carol!!

Yes there is air con in all the rooms, if my memory serves me correctly the price per week for the air con is either 30 or 35 euros, which isnt bad really, we didnt need it in May as the evenings werent too hot, but if the temperature is hotter in the evenings, which im pretty sure it will be, having the air con will be a godsend!

The weather in July will be wonderful, just look at it now!
Title: Re: Bardis Studios - Poppy & Spiros
Post by: blondegirl on July 09, 2007, 11:27:59 PM
Well what can we say!  The Bardis Studios were brilliant... all we could need.  Although the rooms are small, we had to shuffle around the beds and take turns to get past the beds it was fine, we had the best nights sleep we have ever had in a greek pine bed and thats saying something.  Adequate cooking facilities with a small oven and two rings.  The oven had a grill and was also good for heating croissants for breakfast.

We had room no. 3 which was on the ground level and was ideal for nipping over the small wall balcony for the pool and sunbed.  Lynda had no. 19 but Poppy said she could move to no. 4 next to us for the 2nd week which was brilliant.  I did have to psyche myself up for the shower every night trying to sort out the hot/cold taps  and fighting off the shower curtain but by the 10th night I had it sussed out.

The pool is quite shallow at one end and does dip quite quickly down so for non swimmers like me it was a bit unnerving to feel the bottom disappear suddenly but it was great non the less for cooling off.  We had brilliant weather.  Apparently the first week reach 57 degrees on the beach and it was really hot so we needed the air conditioning which was 35 euros a week,5 x day but it is really worth it and we felt helped to keep the mozzies out.

Poppy, Spiros, Bobby and George are so helpful and kind.  They are enthusiastic about making sure that everyone is happy and enjoying their holiday and go out of their way to make it happen.  Mike even managed to "steal" the tv remote control from Bobby to watch Star Trek which was quite something apparently.  All in all we would return to the Bardis if we could manage to find a week there. It has become very popular.  The location is brilliant, you can pop down to the beach for a quick swim, near the shops and restaurants and is far enough away from the more lively spots. It was soooooo quite some days around the pool, we were whispering most of the time so as not to disturb anyone, but we did have a giggle in the pool!! ;]

Oh and Smiffy, I passed on your love to them all and also tried both your drinks which were very nice. I did like the Pink Panthers though!

Hi, welcome home.  So glad that you enjoyed it.  We can't wait to go back in September.  Your e-mail from the resort was great.  We felt as if we were there with you.  No doubt you are now very chilled and still in holiday mode.  Hope you managed to put a little bit of Arillas in your suitcase for home.  Nice to have you back on the Forum and look forward to your reports.  W n S. xx

Great report there for the studios Sue, glad you had a great time staying with them.

You reminded me of something as i was reading your post, the beds, they are really comfortable arent they, i forgot to say that when i returned, i too had fab nights sleeps every night and some afternoons too!!

Mike, like Brett, managed to sweet talk Bobby too then, Brett always managed to wangle the remote so he could check all his football news etc every morning, men ay!

Echoing what Wendy said, its good to have you back on the forum, you have been missed :-) xx

having just returned from Bardis studios on 16th. July  can only echo whats been said, Poppy, Spiros,  Bobby and George were fantastic it was like visiting old friends(even tho it was our first time there!!)The studios had everything you could need and were spotless. We didn't spend all our time in the bar,but would call in for one and a chat with them, they were happy to recommend where to eat etc, didn't seem to expect that we stayed there every night  drinking(which can sometimes be the case in smaller places)!!  It was more expensive to drink there but thats only to be expected, whats a euro here and there,if you can sit and have a chat and loads of info to make your holiday even better. We'll certainly go back there. Carol

Just got back (well 11.30 last night actually) and already the post holiday blues have kicked in. Wheres the sunshine and the pool??? We want to go back....NOW!!!
The apartments were spot on. We got the largest room a short hop from the bar, ideal for the cot and we could have a drink when Alex was asleep as being so close he was practically in the next room.
The air con is a must. The temperatures were creeping up every day. Spiros said they were going to peak this week.
We didnt mind paying a few extra euros to drink in Poppy and Spiros bar, we got plenty of entertainment for free. Spiros has a great sense of humour and Bobby and George are natural charmers. Poppy is the sort of woman that you spend five minutes with and you would trust her with your life.
We met a lot of great people and ate out every night (well, who wants to cook on holiday). We also agree that Poppys breakfasts are just the ticket.
Alex was the star of the show, the whole family made such a fuss of him and Spiros was particularly adept at having him chuckling with his cartoon character sounds. Poppy only had to look at him and he would light up.
We are determined to save up again and go back. It really is a great place.

So glad you had a good time.  Poppy and Spiros are lovely and Poppy is such a good listener, she is interested in what you have to say and  is so informative too.  I really liked her.  They were all brilliant hosts!

I think you will now join the holiday blues queue..  we have come back and want to go again.
