Well it got us talking about it! Probably a disturbed child.

Dimitris had this problem a lot when he first set up arillas.com and it is one of the reasons he set up this forum. So at least you have to be registered to comment, you only get one chance to be offensive then you are blocked.

Pete, says please do not go on to have a look even out of curiosity, as you don't know what else has been sent with it, and it could effect your own pc. Viv

Not a very exciting "Hack" - Perhaps he's a trainee!

I did too and then thought afterwards that is probably what this person wants and keeps a log of how many "hits" he gets or something.

What a stooopid thing to do!

Hello everyone!!
sorry about that,!
I was away for some days and I forgot to "lock the door"
So the hackers found this out and added some rubbish on the one of the guestbook pages which I have deleted as soon as I read the threat on our forum,
THANKS for keeping an eye on it..
I was reading the papers yesterday on the ferry to Igoumenitsa - Corfu and there was on first page that hackers had attacked the Greek Army website and that was on a national day!!
So there is always worse.
I have deleted the guestbook component ("main program") for the moment and I Will add a better one when I have some more time,
These stories with hackers have really helped me to learn a lot about websites and security as I always like to see things in a positive way.

bu the way me and litsa went for a three or four ( don't;t remember it was soo nice ) day brake in a small village on the Greek mountains in ZAGORI, http://www.papigo.gr/ with out mobiles, cameras, music etc ONLY us and the nature!!
talk to you soon,

Dimitris

Well done Dimitris for sorting that out so quickly" We dont want any nasty old "bugs" attacking this site do we?

Glad you had a good time on your holiday.  I always wondered where Greek people (especially those in Arillas) went for their holidays.  It looked lovely and very interesting in the mountains.  I couldnt quite understand where it was though.  It said Ionian island, was that still Corfu or another one.  Sorry I must be a bit dim!  Sue

I am so pleased you and Lisa managed a few days away from everything, you both thoroughly deserve it,  the place looks lovely how far is it from Arilles?

In your actual post once you have posted it, if you spot a spelling mistake etc, look to the right of your post and you will see a small icon of a pen and paper, click on this and it opens up the post you just wrote and allows you to change any mistakes, then save it and its changed, marvellous!!

By the looks of things you are only allowed to modify you're posts in certain threads.

You have never been allowed to edit them in the General Chat thread as you don't have to 'login' to view the topics within.

There are "hackers"and there are also posters of stupid messages (spammers).  Both are a real pain for guestbook owners.  On a couple of guestbooks which I look after I now have to approve all postings before they go "public" which means an unfortunate delay. The "spammers" apparently use special software which finds the guestbook and even adds a message automatically. It sounds as though Dimitri's guestbook was "spammed" well and truly.

The worst problem I get is hackers who get in and DELETE ALL the messages.  I have to take care to keep a back-up and my notes on how to re-instate it.

Hackers search the net for guestbooks. The web logs show that they go straight to them without coming from any links so must have the direct address. Often I have traced the source to computers in China, Korea, Japan and the USA.  What would they be doing looking at a Corfu guestbook?

What do they get out of it ? ... presumably some sort of twisted elation in wrecking something.
