hi carol,

thanks for all the info, we go on the 14th june, we were just wondering what accessability was like (for a pushchair) as we have heard that it is not suitable for young families. how far is it from the centre of arillas?
once again, thanks for all the info.

:D Hi Claire,You wont have any problems with your pushchair. The Nikos apartments are about a 20 minute walk from the beach and village. But we went in august and it was boiling hot.Theres a supermarket and bakery about a 5 minute walk away and afew other apartment blocks around the area where you can pop in for a swim and something to eat just for a change.Your going to love it there,if your only going on monday please say hi to Vasilis for me, my husband Rob son Dan and daughter Emma.and have a great holiday.cx 8)

I am staying at the Nikos Apartments with my family in August this year. We have booked a maisonette. Has anyone experienced one of these? Are there any we should try to avoid? We have picked Nikos because it looks really quiet, which is just what we like. Is it really as idyllic as it sounds?

Hi Pete,Yes Pauls right we stayed at the Nikos Apartments 2003 and had a wonderful holiday. So much so we went back to Arillas 2004 and took half of our family with us.That time we stayed at the Arillas Bay Apartments (Sea Breeze). While we were there we went back the Nioks,Vasilis the owner took us all around his new maisonetts. There very classy!!They have a back and a front door,if you go through the front patio doors theres 2 single beds,1 on either side of the doors theres a dining area and kitchen a shower room and then the  back door.In the middle of the ground floor on the left hand side of the maisonette theres a spiral stair case leading up to the next floor were theres an open balcony stile bedroom.Everything in them is top quality and very nicely decorated. You'll have a wonderful holiday in Arillas and Vasilis and his family will make you very welcome.Have a wonderful time. I'm staying in the Nikos Apartments this may/june.
Please could someone give me some feedback on what it's like there?
I'm excited, yet nervous as some people have mentioned a hard walk back from the beach! is this true?
thanks

Hi Sarah,Your going to have a brilliant holiday,Nikos are set in a beautiful part of arillas. There are only 6 apartments, 2 on the ground floor 2 on the middle and 2 on the top. The balcony goes all around the building (it is your own private balcony) so if your either on the middle or top floors you can sit looking out at the front over the pool, the side or the back (the top floor gets a view of the sea).Vasilis the owner and his family will make you feel really welcome. The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes. If you walk down the hill passed the Tria Adelphia then turn left carry on along that road and it will bring you to the beach. Its quicker than walking down the hill and past the bakery and shop, and through the village to the beach but saying that it depends on how fit you are. There are also 4 new maisonettes at Nikos they are behind the taverna side by side.Im sure your going to enjoy your holiday.Let us know how you get on.Happy holidays ,cx

Hi Peter
We stayed at Nikos last year, One of my best memories of eating there is after ordering a salad with our meal watching Vasilis wander across the fields at the back collecting afore montioned salad (now thats what I call fresh)

Hi Bruce

That certainly sounds like my sort of restaurant! Just as long as he doesn't go and cut the sheep's throat when I order kleftiko!

What did you think of the place? Were the maisonettes built when you visited - did you stay in one?

I would love to hear your views

Cheers

Well it has now come and gone - 14 fantastic nights at the Nikos Apartments.  We stayed in one of the maisonettes and it was really nice - we opted to pay extra for the air conditioning after the first night, mainly so that we could shut out the nightime noises (Dogs barking, etc) and snuggle under the covers.  For 7 euros a night it was worth it.

We have vowed to go back next year but will probably opt for an apartment this time, mainly because the open plan nature of the maisonettes means that we had to listen to the teeth-grinding and noisy dreams of our 7 and 9 year olds who slept upstairs! We'll have to get some fans though as the apts are not airconned.

Vasilis is a lovely bloke as too are Costas, his brother, and Katerina, his niece.  Katerina and her friend provided the Greek dancing at the weekly BBQs which was great fun.

Because there are only 6 apts and 4 maisonettes it is really easy to make friends with other guests which we did the first day around, and in, the pool.  I think the place brings out the best in everyone - lots of nice people, nobody who rubbed me up the wrong way (and that's got to be a first!)

We had a car for the fortnight and I would certainly recommend doing the same if you stay at Nikos because it is quite remote, although we did manage to walk down to the village most evenings (good for walking off all the good food on the way home - but take a torch!).

fantastic resort and great accommodation - can't wait for next year.

Pete

PS Didn't see any bewigged lions!

Pete,

I enjoyed your reading review.  It's no small wonder that you and your family want to return next year. :D

So I take it your signature file "roll on August" will stay for next year?

Good point, Eileen.

You will see that I have now changed it to "Roll on July" because I have just booked to go back to the Nikos Apartments 24 July next year!

I was hoping to post a picture I took of the apartments in this message but can't figure out how.  I will have a go at putting it in the photo gallery in the next few days - any hints gratefully received.
