Hi
Corfu witnessed its first seaplane landing in 15 years on Friday 22nd August, when Hellenic Seaplanes carried out a successful test flight. The demonstration, which included a short sightseeing trip for officials and guests, marked the revival of interest in seaplane transport, which last operated in Greece between 2004 and 2009.
Friday's flight showcased the potential of seaplanes to improve connectivity between islands and coastal destinations. On board were former president of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Angela Gerekou, the Deputy Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands Savas Koulouris, and local representatives. The operation was supported by the Port Authority of Corfu, ensuring smooth landing and takeoff procedures.
Island hopping by sea plane becoming closer.
