Title: Kaloudis
Post by: Truth on July 05, 2024, 03:49:18 PM
Hello all
We're thinking about maybe having a day at Kaloudis Pool (I think its still called Splish Splash?) this year for a change , we tend to go out and use the Marina Pool mainly  , as well as Tria and Rainbow.
I presume they are happy with you to just rock up there and use ten facilities if you but a drink and have a bite to eat ?
I only ask as I've been up there a few times for a quiet beer on my own late afternoon and its always seemed really busy so I wasn't 100% sure if non residents were welcome?
I think that this was the first placed Negg ever stayed in Arillas so it obviously has historical significance too  , a bit like the Acropolis !   lol

I have spoken to Billy a couple of times when I've been in for a beer , only briefly though , I didn't realise his brother owns the brewery . Probably explains why he doesn't sell Mythos / Amstel then !  lol
I thought you'd used the place as I'd seen you post a pic on the forum of Billy in Splish Splash when he was younger

Hi
Yes we have stayed a few times at the Kaloudis with Billy when he was younger but we go back and see them all
I think Billy has two brothers own the brewery?

You can also use Mirage pool or the one at Malibu.

Hi Sonia
I hope you had a good time ?
We've used Mirage loads of times in the past and my daughter and her boyfriend used Malibu for one day this year . I don't think they could afford a second day eating and drinking there !  lol
Lovely how he's done it all though in fairness !

Karl it was fantastic as usual.  Only thing was lack of sunbeds and we only had one day in the beach. It was 15 euros outside Thalassa  for two sunbeds and 1 umbrella which are fixed umbrellas which I like in case it is windy as I like to be in the shade. There was no discount for my daughter on her own only wanting 1 sunbed and you have to pay for the whole day which is a Shane as half a day would be sufficient for me. Anyway, twas still a fantastic holiday as usual.

Sonia , I am glad you also enjoyed.

But these pricing of sunbeds really gets to me!!

In my opinion the Councils charge way over the price for a Summer Pitch.
(and, I am told a late issue of a licence could cost the rental input for most of May)

I beleive the Council cost is based on the fact that not all earnings, alledgedly, are declared for tax.
So... because of the hefty rental it is possible that some pitch owners do not declare all their earnings. Tis a "Catch 22" situation and whose pocket suffers down the line??

Sadly , from what I have learnt and been told over the many years is that the "Tax Offices" treat all premises as "making a few bob on the side" - A tad sad that

The beach is free. Get down there with a local bought brolley and mats and enjoy.

Cheers
Negg

and Karl ............ you could pop in and use the Rainbow pool facilities.
They do have many "visitors" not guests and all are treated with respect and "filoxenia"
(friendship)
plus you get to have a chinwag with me!!

We don't use sunbeds but prefer sitting down on the sand. We went over to San Stefanos one day and noticed one place advertising two beds and a brolly and an ice bucket with a bottle of water for 7 euros.

You may well have already visited by now - but yes, it certainly is open to all and, whilst most people using it are staying there, some aren't. They just politely ask that you don't bring in your own food/drink but buy from the bar.  Food is served all day and it's fabulous, especially the gyros lunch (€4.50). How busy it is varies - some days it seems really busy but no set pattern to it

Cheers Stephanie! We don't go for 4 weeks . I saw the gyros special advertised last year 👍
