I can't find the up to date website on how many items of hand luggage you can take. Can somebody help please. Viv
Can depend who you are flying with.May be worth checking the actual airline's website as a starting point.
http://www.dft.gov.uk/transportforyou/airtravel/airportsecurity/
The above is the minimum restriction imposed, airlines may add further rules on top of these so use them as a good starting point.
Thanks for that. I wasn't looking for weight allowance as I never take that much in
he cabin. I hadn't made myself clear what I needed to know was can you now take more then one piece of hand luggage say handbag and camera and I found that on the last line's of the site you gave me Joe. If anybody else is intrested it reads as so
tThe Department for Transport has approved new security arrangements at a number of airports in the UK. This means that at these airports the restriction previously imposed limiting hand baggage to one item per person will no longer apply with effect from 7 January 2008.
cheers Viv
Hi viv. It`s always best to check with the airline, I find. You`ll get the up to date information.
If I remember correctly it depended on which airport you were flying from. I knew there were still restrictions at Gatwick whereas it was different at Manchester etc. but they might have lifted that now. Lynda and my sister flew to Cyprus yesterday from Gatwick I shall have to ask them how they got on.
Gatwick is still just one hand luggage: http://www.gatwickairport.com/
I will be flying with Thomson in June and their hand luggage allowance is 10kg, which is nice :)
Not a bad weight Erja. I usually take 5kg only, and that`s for 2 weeks.
We usually take the digi cam in its case and Anne takes her handbag on as hand luggage the rest is in 2 medium suitcases which is more than enough for us
Tony
Thats the same as us, Tony exept that we have to have a camera each as I just like to snap anything and everything and Pete dosent like to carry his everywhere with him.
He always has a full day to walk around with his camera and the digi cam once a week and then he and Dimitri's spend the next day going through them to find the best shots. Funny things are felle's I will never figure them out. lol. Viv
LOL Viv we take 2 cameras but the smaller Fuji gets wrapped up well and shoved in the suitcase, icame back with around 500 pics last year from both cams
Tony
we are flying with thomas cook this year, they only allow 15kg of hold luggage, but say you can take 5kg as hand baggage, not quite sure if thats 20 kg in total or 15kg including hand baggage, have phoned the local tc shop, but they didnt seem to know either!! any one know how much they charge per kilo for extra weight??!!
ger x
With us your hand baggage allowance is independant of your checked in baggage allowance, if you have a 15kg baggage limit then you can also have your 5kg of hand baggage
Edit - By 'us' I mean Thomas Cook :)
I'm sure last year with Thomson was 20Kg plus 5Kg hand luggage. Hope it is the same this year.
riggers........
thanks for that joe! that means i can sneak in some extra pairs of shoes!!!

Hi All
I fly frequently (almost every week) to different areas of Europe from Manchester and have always been told at security that only one piece will be allowed through but once through I take my hand bag out of my laptop case and get on the plane with 2 pieces of hand baggage. Don't know whether this helps with the holiday charters but the stumbling block is the airposrt security. Best to check with the Airport AND the Airline.
Will be back in Arillas in September for the 9th time. Can't wait.

Thompsons website states: "Baggage Policy for Flight-Only Customers
All flight-only customers will continue to enjoy a free generous hand luggage allowance of up to 10kg." The rest of the info is here: http://www.thomsonfly.com/en/flywithus_2753.html?ito=2715
So us flight only customers are for once better off :)
Thats a turn up for the books then EEG, i wonder if they also get extra leg room;-) lol
Tony
EEG
The 10kg is maximum but your TOTAL including hold luggage cannot exceed 25 kg, so you if you have check-in luggage as well you will have to keep that to 15kg !
Check again.
Well, I don't even own that much stuff that it would make over 25kg in total ;)
What I meant was that it is nice to see that it is nice be able to travel with nice amount of weight for just the hand luggage, thus avoid the tedious wait for the hold luggage at the airport :)
