If anyone is interested Crown Currency Exchange have some cancelled contracts and have some euros going at 1.1759 per GBP for delivery after 30.03.10.
I noticed that and ordered some last week.
I'm sitting here waiting for delivery of the euros I ordered from Crown Currency in December. I'm now thinking - it was 3 months ago....hope they haven't forgotten me!!
Oh darn it! I just got so excited - I didn't read the date on Rother's post! I was already to order now for May.....
Ah well
Janis x
Janis....check it out....they may have some good offers on for May....you never know.
I've just used Crown Currency for the very first time. I usually check the exchange rate on sites such as XE etc. Last week their live rates were E1.10, but this figure was for the Interbank rates, so you never get that much. On checking Crown Currency, they were offering E1.103, so I ordered my euros for delivery next week. Delivery in May, I think they're still offering E1.12.
Today the Post Office's rate is only E1.06 :(
Will definitely use them again. Thanks to everyone who recommended them.
Sara
We've used them before and pretty good. They're 1.10 for end April/beg May at mom.
Not bad
Janis x
Still sitting here waiting...they tell me they should be here by 2pm....I hope so!!
Just arrived! For once I got it right.....1.17
Glad your euros have arrived Sandy. I didn't think C.C would let you down.
You certainly did "get it right" - E1.17. Wished I'd bought mine sooner.
Enjoy spending it.
Sara...x
I've just ordered some now. i got a rate of 1.1199, i would have liked more :) but that is better than the post office. Delivery may 26th.
Wish i had bought mine sooner to Sara.
riggers.
Riggers - bring 'em over on May 26th, hand them over to me and I'll buy you a drink.... Fair deal ??
Well done, Sandy - great rate! Wish I'd done it...
Janis x
I had this in an email today from Crown Currency - very tempting...

Temptings right Terry , I have some on order @1.17 for may 17th delivery to spend in Arillas from the 21st . May have to get some more for Kefalonia in july .
Yammas
Dave
Ours are on order at that rate, too Dave - we arrive on 17th, so ordered for delivery on 7th May
Janis x
Well i was happy with 1.1199 ,just my luck it went up. Me thinks order some for next visit.
Lets hope it keeps on rising :)

Still contemplating whether to order online or hang on until just before we go as its creeping up again ,looks like i'm gonna have to toss a coin to decide
Tony
Kev...there will be booze, don't worry. :)
The rate has gone up now since i ordered it Tony..grrrrrrr
Ah well Riggers thats one less Mythos a night for you on the other hand it could go down so you may be having 1 extra if you get my drift
I,m sure it would be easier if mythos became the currency of Greece ;-)
Its over 1.2000 :-) . We could do with it over 1.3000 in the next few weeks or is that being greedy?
not at all terry!
it was 1.20 in m & s on sunday
ger x
ger
tell me what m&s, as ive looked on there website and its only..e114.85.yammas
The Post Office is beating both M&S and TC by at least 2 cents to the £. You can order it online and collect at a nominated branch next day.
Received a newsletter from Crown this morning offering 1.219 for delivery between 15.09.10 and 22.09.10. In two minds what to do as we go to Crete on the 21st September.
Decisions decisions.
Just tapped in my requiremnets for Aug 20th and they can offer 1.22+ does everyone reckon I should bite their hands off?
ICE (https://www.iceplc.com/) are offering "1 GBP = 1.1901" with next day delivery if you order before 3.00pm
Definitely Jo, they were offering 1.21 for delivery in August a couple of weeks ago and I left it, when I looked to order at the weekend it had been reduced to 1.19, so I thought that I'd better order before they reduced the rate further. Should have waited, never mind.
Get those euros ordered girl!
Becky
X
Jo...I would go for it, sounds good to me.
riggers.
Its worth looking at this page on BBC and the graph of the Pound against the Euro. I think the rate could be about 1.24 by the end of July.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/10405543.stm
I think I will wait another 4 weeks to buy unless there is a sudden dip.
But at the end of the day what do we gain? On a £1000.00 and an increase from 1.15 to 1.24 its 90€ but if its 1.20 to 1.22 its only 20€
£ Rate €
£1,000 1.15 1,150.00 €
£1,000 1.16 1,160.00 €
£1,000 1.17 1,170.00 €
£1,000 1.18 1,180.00 €
£1,000 1.19 1,190.00 €
£1,000 1.20 1,200.00 €
£1,000 1.21 1,210.00 €
£1,000 1.22 1,220.00 €
£1,000 1.23 1,230.00 €
£1,000 1.24 1,240.00 €
After all that I am thinking B***** it I will just go to M and S or Travelex a few days before traveling
Agree Terry. It's so little. But we are going through the motions. Like Jo Wisset said about the mozzie posts on here, the currency changing posts just remind you the season is alive and well. And many will be off shortly. Including US!!!!
You may have to wait, and we are truly sad we'll miss you this year, but hey, you've not got that long to wait and neither of us will ever forget you invading us in the Nut playing "air guitar." Many laughed at us old-uns pretending to be 17 again. Bring it on!!
As for the exchange rate, I would pay 10% more to have the ATM in Arillas.
Phil
Last night Crown Currency had cancelled contract so were offering euros at 1.2517 for delivery between 15th and 21st September. Matches our holiday to Crete very nicely. Jan ordered 650 euros. Back in May the rate was 1.129. Quite a difference.
Anyone wanting thiis rate of 1.2517 must mention the cancelled contracts.
rothers did you order over the phone or do it on the online form?
Jan rang them Jo.. 0800 number on the website. She spoke to Caroline. They are open until 8pm this evening.
rang Crown today and they could only offer me a paltry 1.1975 compared to the 1.23 I could have got last week! TYPICAL! So my advice, do not dither like I have been doing and get it booked!
Quotepaltry 1.1975 compared to the 1.23 I could have got last week!
On a £1000 the difference in Euro's is only €32.5 - still much better than was being offered a few months ago.

32.5 euro. Nice meal at Vavilas and change.
thanks Terry, that made me feel 'slightly' better, and Rothers that didnt!! :-)
I hope this is true and makes all of us feel slightly better.
This "The Sterling Euro pairing faces some important data releases this week, personally I can see the Pound climbing once again as further cracks appear in the Euro Zone"
is on this website today .....
http://www.currencies.co.uk/currencytalk/2010/07/05/sterling-exchange-rate-outlook-and-forecast-2/
Thursday afternoon could be interesting.
I would rather have the ATM back in Arillas than a higher exchange rate :-(
Hi Jo
Ring back and ask if they still have any of the canceled currency left at 1.26 euro , they wont tell you if you dont ask . I ordered mine on sat for aug delivery .
Yammas
Dave
Glad i ordered last week and got 1.2236 :-)
Checking out the rates on Money saving expert today and Crown is giving 1.168 for August while BestForeignExchange.com is offering 1.18. Have only just discovered these websites and now realise I should have ordered a few weeks ago to get a better rate. Never mind. Has anyone used BestForeignexchange? Are they reliable?
Cath, its worth a gamble to hang on for a few days. The pound has risen today, against the Euro, and it could go higher .... see http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-07-23/pound-rises-against-dollar-euro-before-report-on-british-economic-growth.html
Crown Currency and bestforeignexchange.com have higher rates today. The Martin Lewis website is good for a comparison ... http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/

Thanks Terry, I'll look again next week
I had an email from Travelex today with this link
http://email.travelex.com/IN/IqsEOQaptkBVEh3QtQudbYWSrrDQ5rxTe7QxKK-j34F/WebView.aspx
I'm not sure how they can have a sale on currency but it will be worth a look.
This is a screen print ...

What a con!!!!
Nothing changed, the rates were the same as they were before the supposedly "Sale".
Rate was 1.17 against 1.18 at Best Foreign Exchange.
I don't think I will use Travelex again if they can pull a stunt like that.
The pound has slowly risen this week against the euro and has just gone over 1.20 on the exchange market.

Just a note on Crown Currency for anyone worried about using them i ordered online on the 28th of June and payed by bankers draft (You can also pay by cheque but not by credit or debit card)
The rate was1.2236 Euro to the Pound, we received an email explaining how to pay the same evening and the date for the delivery by Royal Mail Special Delivery, on the date stated the money arrived at 9.30 am in the morning although it said to arrive before 2pm on the particular date
I must admit i was a tad sceptical about it but wont hesitate in future to use them
Tony
That's really good to know, I've looked at them in the past with the same slightly sceptical head but I would more than likely use them now that you've shared this Tony :-)
BeckyB :-)
I have used them several times and never had a problem, I will use them again next year.
I used them and had no problem...the money arrived on the appointed day and time.
Crown have just offered me 1.1969 over the phone and sent an email to confirm. I rang Thomas Cook and they will go up to 1.18 summit but i am just waiting to see if rate changes for today. dilly dallying as usual!
It's hard though Jo isn't it?
I was like that earlier in the year when we went to Rhodes. In the end I didn't get a brilliant rate & Christian (who bought his with less than 24 hours to spare) fared much better - I guess I should have had the courage to stick it out a bit longer :-)
Well I plumped for 1.185 with Thomas Cook in the end. With Crown I would have got around 28 euro's more in total but figured it was worth that for the stress of waiting for it to arrive!! I have now got my travel insurance, checked my E111 are still in date, got my hol spends and just waiting for the off!!
Just thought I'd mention, after getting my currency from Thomas Cook, I received an email today saying thanks and enclosing a £100 voucher for any holiday booked for next year (as long as you book before Feb 2011). May be a really good offer for couples and as they also use Easyjet there may be a saving to be had there for us?
Just used BestForeignExchange.com for the first time. Was a bit anxious paying all our hard earned money over to their bank account with only an email to confirm but the Euros turned up today just as they promised by special delivery and we got a rate of 1.19 Euros. I'll definitely use them again.
Thats good news Cath, thanks for telling us.
SEE GENERAL CHAT 5TH OCT 2010 CROWN CURRENCY HAS GONE BUST
A comment in todays Telegraph
"Yet another disgrace by the FSA,these people should have told Crown Currency that as they were trading with members of the publics money they needed to be properly registered,if i lost money in this scam i would be taking legal advice on suing the FSA,there is a clear breach of duty here,it should never have happened, this FSA registered company was no doubt touted to members of the public as being a bona fide company and their money was safe even CC went bust. Can I post "greedy cheating bastards" on here?
Probably not Terry. Not "Politically Correct" !
The only group of people that you can say anything about are Law-abiding White Heterosexual Able-Bodied Christian Males - they are the only ones that have no specific laws protecting them from abuse.
