Title: FAO TerryW. New Corfu Beer
Post by: Val n Bill on March 18, 2013, 07:57:17 PM

Wetherspoons April International Beer Festival is featuring another Arillas brew, it's called Corfu Ionian Coffee Porter.

Terry, Bill says this one will be another great ale. It looks like they are going to feature 'our' brewery more often.

Porter is a great favourite of Bills' so he is looking forward to sampling this one, and hopes there will still be some available at the brewery when we go at the end of May.

Congratulations to the boys at the brewery.

That's great news again Val, thanks for posting. Perhaps Bill could let me know when its on tap and then I can go to Wetherspoons in Stratford. I hope you are both well and I hope Bill doesn't take his extra large glass to the pub :-)

I must post the photo.

Bill had his Sunday pint in Wetherspoons yesterday.... Ionian Coffee Porter, a lovely pint, when first poured it looked like a frappe, black with a creamy head.

Bill's taste notes.......coffee aroma, hint of bitter chocolate to the taste with a rich creamy texture. A beautiful pint and very easy to drink. Leaves you wanting another. So he had one ;)

Another excellent brew that Corfu Brewery Arillas can be be proud of.
In the  Wetherspoons magazine Klaudio states ........"In Greece we drink a lot of coffee, hot or cold and I  wanted to transfer this flavour and pleasure into the body and head of Ionian Coffee Porter" he dedicates this porter to the historic friendship between the Ionian Islands and Great Britain.

Terry, Bill has been promised the pump clip again.....of course if he gets it....it is yours.

Please everyone go to Wetherspoons and have a pint and support Arillas.

Managed to sample a few pints of the lovely Coffee Porter last Friday in my local Wetherspoons. Very nice pint, the bad news is when I went back last night it had all been sold!

The sad news is that this beer is not available here!

I went to the brewery , this afternoon , to scrounge a bottle, and was told it is made only for Weatherspoons. Exclusive to them.

Who wants to bring me over a bottle then??

Very sorry Neill but Ionian Coffee Porter is only sold on draught for Wetherspoons International beer festival. If you can get a cheap flight it would be worth it, it's superb! Be quick though the festival finishes on the 21st.

If you don't make it Bill will tell you how nice it WAS when we see you......we arrive 27th May (with bacon).

See you soon,  Val and Bill xx

Had to pop into Dudley and Merry Hill Today

I would have tried it out if I drank
The manage in Merry Hill asked if I wanted a pint as I was about to snap it " No I replied only the photo " must have thought I was Mad.

Ionian Coffee Porter finally arrived in our local Wetherspoons yesterday.I tried a couple of pints and although I normally drink lager and light beers, found it a most enjoyable drink.    Definitely a coffee and chocolate scent to it.Sorry you cannot get it  in Arillas Neill but it may be too hot in Arillas to drink a porter type beer.Keep enjoying the Mythos!!!      Ron.

Hi everyone, thanks for the information and photos that have made me very sad :-( .

There are no Wetherspoons near where I live and they won't be selling it in Corfu :-( :-(  (see I needed two sad faces then).

Its amazing that I can't have my favourite drink in the UK, yet the one drink that is sold in the UK, I can't drink in Arillas.

Even in Arillas it seems that a normal sized glass isn't big enough for some people, no wonder Wetherspoons sell out quickly.

Terry, Bill says he really doesn't remember draining that glass(I only have his word for it) so I hope he wasn't that thirsty....but he says he only had the one!

It really is a shame that you can't get to try it Terry, :( but Bill will have one for you tomorrow if the second batch is on :) and this if he has another :)

Anyone who is lucky enough to try Ionian Coffee Porter please think of those can't get to taste it.

Neill, Wendy can have the glass back, much too big for Bill. He's not a very good swimmer. Lol x

Was it the disappointment on my face? The manager had told me they weren't going to put it on, and we nearly went elsewhere on my day off today.

But lo and behold, we went to Wetherspoons and they had relented. It was Arillas Today for me. Ionian Coffee Porter was on offer!

I only had two pints (the second was naughty - I had to drive) but would have had more if I could. It is a delightful drink. The hint of coffee flavour was  lost on Jen, but I detected it. It is much like old fashioned mild ale, but stronger at 4.5%. It is dark but not heavy like stout is. It slips down without a murmur and really hits the B-spot. No gas, just a pleasant real ale froth. Klaudio should be justifiably proud of his achievement with creating this very special ale.

I bored the barman witless with tales of Arillas and the brewery whilst he was serving me. But then I have that effect on most people......

Terry I wasn't going to tell you....... but Bill has been back for three sessions. It would have been four but one Wetherspoons he visited was shut because it was being renovated.
So he returned on Sunday to our local one. Sorry to rub salt in the wound.
Hoping to pick up your pump clip at the weekend......he will be devastated if he doesn't get it.

Phil you needn't feel guilty about boring anyone, Bill has done it to every bar person who has served him over the last two weeks.
Just hope they book to visit Arillas just to shut him up. ;)

I had a package arrive today and inside was a Pump label for the coffee porter beer that Wetherspoons have been selling. Bill (Van n Bill) got it from his local Wetherspoons and Val kindly posted it to me. They also gave me the Koroibos label from last year, when we saw them in Arillas last July. So here is Corfu Beer picture . Thanks again Val n Bill.

You are very welcome Terry...... when Bill picked it up it still had sticky Ionian Coffee Porter splashes on the back, I washed them off because we thought that was too cruel seeing as you never got to taste it. (Also didn't want you using it as a lollipop).
