We're back from Arillas and sadly back in work too! :( I had 120 emails when I got back - pah!
We had a fab time, Arillas was gorgeous, we ate ourselves stupid and I couldn't get Julian out of the sea!!! We marvelled at how cheap everything was and even came back with 50Euro! :) We had an absolutely amazing time. The weather on the Friday was a bit disappointing - it poured down all morning and we were stuck because we had to check out of the hotel by midday and our coach wasn't collecting us until 21.35. So we ended up sat in the Coconut and watched two films in a row! Eggy - was that you looking at the leak in the ceiling in the Coconut last Friday??? I thought it might have been but I was too shy to ask!!! Hee hee!
Had a great time going to Paxos and Antipaxos - the weather and the sea were gorgeous and I got to see some dolphins at sea which was amazing! It was a long day but well worth it!
You might have warned me about the roads though - I spent much of the week terrified that a) we were going to fall off a cliff and b) that some lunatic driver was going to mow us down!!! We were ok though!
Aqualand was a lot of fun but it was a bit rainy that day too - and I got munched to bits by the mozzies!
Hope everyone's had a nice week! :)
Glad you had a good holiday. Viv
Welcome back, glad you had a lovely time, seems to have gone very fast! It's horrible coming back to work. Which was your favourite eating place then?
Oooo definitely either Kostas on the Beach or Thalassa - and to add another lovely aspect - my other half proposed after we'd eaten at Thalassa! Argh! Can't believe I forgot to mention that in the original post! I was engaged in Arillas!
I hope you have some good photographs to show us smoosh. Glad you had a great holiday!!
TerryW
Gongratulations on your brilliant news :) I can't think of a more romantic place to get engaged!
That's what he said, he said the opportunity was just there because the setting was so perfect, but apparently he'd been thinking about it for a while. We'll definitely be going back - maybe for our honeymoon! Ha ha!
Photos will be on here as soon as I can - we took 106 of them so probably not all of them though!
Ahh that's lovely! How romantic! Congratulations to you both!
Smoosh so pleased you had a great holiday and many congratulations on your engagement. Glad also, that Thalassa has finally had something nice said about it.
Thanks Sharon!
We thought Thalassa was lovely! A bit more expensive than everywhere else but well worth it and still cheaper than home for what you got! I had a gorgeous sofrito! It was a very very windy night so the plastic sheeting was up all around but we could still see out and it was a bit warmer. The dog there was lovely too!
Did you see the ceiling at Thalassa smoosh?
We did - I remembered to look after your picture on here!
Congratulations on your engagement smoosh, you see, us blokes still have a romantic side to us were not just beer, football, beer, football you know!! Tell all was he properly romantic on one knee or what? And your right thalassa is wonderful food although the horizon just shades it for us.
Once again congratulations.
Thankfully I have found the one man in the world who has absolutely no interest whatsoever in competitive sports!!!! :) So I'd better keep hold of him!
Yes it was lovely, whole 9 yards business!
Smoosh what wonderful news, as well as loving the place for what it is, Arillas will have a place in your heart forever. Congratulations! Keep us updated about your organising, you'll be able to get some hints off Smiffy!
Smiffy, then smoosh, who is next?
EEG??!! ha ha ha - only kidding, know you would hate that as much as me from your blog!
Congratulations Smoosh and Julian !!!!!! How was everyone at the Akti ? We leave for Arillas in the morning, can't wait.
Congratulations Viv & Pete

Oh dear Cheryl! I can almost promise you that it wont be me :)
Then again, the hell has strted to freeze over ;)
EEG - were you there the same time as us? From that new picture you look really familiar! I'm sure we were in the Coconut together a few times and maybe lunch in Portofino one day...?
Hello there,
I was there with my friend Heidi 24.08-07.09 and we did do couple of lunches in Portofino. Shame if we missed each other :(
Glad you had a great holiday. Congratulations on your engagement, what a wonderful place and lovely setting for it.
We were there 31.08 - 07.09! Just looked at your blog - was definitely you! Dammit!
I remember looking at your tatts because it seemed like only you and me and Julian were the only tattooed people in Arillas! I've got a big vine of flowers down my left thigh and loads of people were staring at it all the time!
No kidding! I do remember your tattoo as well as Heidi and I discussed it. Ce la vie....next time :)
Hi EEG
Where can we read your blog??
Thanks
Shuey
Oh dear! That's such a shame!
Well we'll definitely be back, we had such a nice time! It was just what we were after. Other than the tattoo gawping it was so great. In the hotel in particular I noticed some disapproving looks! They didn't pay much attention to Ju's but I had more than one tut! Ha ha! :)
Smoosh - you get your tatts out whenever you want, don't bother what other people think!!
EEG - noticed the 'almost certain' - has 'middle age' changed your mind slightly??!! How you enjoying life in your naughty forties then? I think it's ace much better than being a teenager!
Sarah, go to EEG's profile and you can click on a link there - it's very entertaining reading!
Cheryl,
My motto in life is that you have to try everything once. I have been there done that and got divorced, but still somewhat optimistic about romance. I just dont seek it and tend to run away when it approaches :)
EEG, that's a great pic, reflects what a great time you had. What a shame you and smoosh missed each other. Smoosh, agree with Cheryl about your tatts, can't believe anybody tutted at you, silly sods. xx
Oh it's ok, we're used to it! It's just that they were all on display which they're usually not when we're here.
The biggest one is the flowers on my thigh from about hip to knee so it was just because I was wearing shorts that people could see. I've got one across my lower back which has two doves holding a scroll which says 'Heddwch' which is the Welsh word for peace and I also have another one which is a combination of a heart and a 'V' (my proper name's Vicki!) on the inside of my right ankle which isn't very visible. Can't hide much in a bikini!!!
I've found that Greek people are a bit less accepting of things like body modifications, but the fact they're so nice and friendly makes up for it! :)
Thanks Cheryll I will have a read!
I haven't got any tattoos, but when through a stage several years ago wanting one but didn't have the guts to have it done (i hate needles with a passion). I must admit i do look at people with tattoos but its only because i am nosey and curious - i dont mean any offence!! ;)
No - I like it when people look at them - if they're on display they're there to be looked at. I like to consider myself a little walking art gallery! :)
Interested and curious looks are very different to some of the ones we get when we get tutted at and people even make horrible comments to our faces which can be a bit upsetting - and we're not even extremely tattooed. It's not just abroad though, it happens here too.
What small minded people, I have one on my lower back, not brave enough to have anymore!
How rude. I cant believe people would have the cheek to do that. If everyone was the same the world would be a very boring place......Each to their own.
smoosh and EGG, you have just proved that we need to agree on a silly handshake or similar so that we can recognise fellow forum members when we are in Arillas.
How about a badge that replicates the Arillas Song CD cover, we could all wear it, and if JamesW goes for a lunchtime drink without his shirt on he could have a nipple pierced and put the badge pin though it.
Ouch! Lets just do the handshake. I actually met JamesW one afternoon in Arillas when we were rolling back to Tropicana and this chap hollered over the road:"Is one of you Heidi by any chance?" We started laughing and said yes and he replied that he thought he recognised me but wanted to check so that he wont make an ass out himself.
So if you think someone is from forum, opening your gob seems to work and is less painful than things through your nipples :)
Ouch indeed!
Still catching up on all the posts!!
Congratulations smoosh!!! I couldnt think of a better destination or location to have been proposed to, that was so lovely to read!!
So we're now the 2 engaged people of the forum, how fab!!
Congratulations Smoosh!!
I have 5 tattoos, one on the side of each calf 2 on right arm and one on left and i dont think i got any funny looks, well i didnt notice any anyway!! It is hard to just go up to someone and ask them if they are off the forum! I saw Eeg one day watching Shrek and i didnt want to disturb her as she looked like she was enjoying it!!
Paul
I also have 2 tattoos, one on my left ankle and one at the top of my right arm, i say let people stare if they want to, as you say you can tell the curious stares from the rude ones anyway, so you know the ones to ignore!
HEY COME ON - IF YOUVE GOT IT - FLAUNT IT, BUT COME ON IF YOU HAVE GOT THEM
YOU GOT TO EXPECT PEOPLE TO LOOK !!!
Thanks Smiffy! Did you have a nice time on your hols??
It was a great proposal...just after we'd eaten at Thalassa, on the end of the jetty. I didn't know he had that much romance in him! I've got to choose my own ring now though which is proving to be a nightmare! I thought it'd be so easy! I've decided I don't want the standard diamond solitaire - I'd told him that months before so he didn't risk it and just got me a novelty one from Cschelles!!! I'm thinking I want aquamarine and diamonds or tanzanite and diamonds... :)
I know it may not be a man thing to say but its really nice to see people show their true feelings on here about all sorts of subjects. I think it shows the honesty and sincerity of forum members and sums up what Arillas is all about.
Here are two little images for smiffy and smoosh

Congratulations Smoosh - just a tip when looking for a ring. Make sure that it lays flat against a wedding ring. When we bought my original engagement ring it was a Ceylon sapphire with diamonds round it and a wedding ring looked awful sitting next to it. Lucky for me hubby bought me another one a couple of months before we got married!
Oooo thanks Shuey! I'll have to bear that in mind...I'm not sure what will fit against a wedding ring...I'll have to do another round of every jeweller in Cardiff and Newport and see if they can advise! :)
I loved looking at engagement rings, i just pointed out a few that i liked and then it was up to Brett to pick what one and then do the do.
I didnt think mine would be a romantic proposal either but it was, he lit loads of tealights in the front room and put them all round the room and then called me, i walked down the hallway and there he was in the middle of the floor on bended knee, so lovely!
Wedding ring shopping soon, oh its all so exciting! Thanx for the piccies Terry!
Smoosh - something like three stones in a row.
We didnt do redo our marriage vows in Arillas but I had a lovely surprise from Mike, he gave me a lovely pair of emerald/diamond earrings for 35 years this year to match last years emerald ring. He gave them to me with the Arillas Sunset behind, very sweet and romantic, bless him!
Arillas must bring out the best in our menfolk! :)
Aah thats lovely Sue, so romantic!!
Smiffs, if I remember rightly you were having a 'strop' at the time because he wouldn't help you with the cleaning - bet you felt dead mean afterwards!!
Sue, you sound to have a truly perfect marriage, no wonder you always seem so happy!
From my own experience, the men in Yorkshire are not even slightly romantic, must be why I'm happy to remain single!
Back on topic - welcome back SharonF - you're very quiet - hope you had another lovely week!
Hahaha Cheryl, yes well remembered haha, i thought id leave that out this time though, didnt want people thinking i was an ungrateful bint!!
Yes welcome back Sharon, hope you had a fab time!
Yorkshire men unromantic? maybe untell they get to 50ish but it has to come out sometime. LOL Viv
