Just checked availability of flights to Spain for a friend and thought I would just out of interest see how the flight prices to Corfu are at the minute.
WOW !!!! what a bargain £69 return this Friday. Inclusive of all taxes and credit card charges.
Pity I have to work !!!!!!
So anyone free and able to fly from Newcastle ? Get booking quick.
I love a bargain Pauline
Hi Pauline,
Yeah, I booked up this afternoon for the Newcastle flight leaving this Friday. It cost a total of £152 including all fuel charges etc. When searching on XL.com remember to type 'Telegraph' into the Special Offers box to qualify for a further £15 discount each.
2 Sleeps to go!
Eileenxx
Hi Eileen
Just read your note about typing telegraph ino s/o box with XL.com, is that code valid only for this season?
Regards
JCC
whoo hoo eileen see you there!!!
we arrive on monday afternoon!!! just my mum and me you will no who we are !!
marie x
Hi JCC,
That special offer code has been running since last year, so hopefully it will continue for a while yet.
There are various codes you can use, one of them is 'Yahoo', but so far as I've seen none of them are giving £15 discount like the Telegraph code is.
If I see any change to the Telegraph code or an even better one I will post it here.
Hi Marie,
See you there, I'll be looking for you.
Eileen.
Eileen,
I'm pleased to hear you get such a good deal, it can be pretty tricky getting such good value flights at this time of year but if you do take the risk and hold out for the cheapest fairs you can often get lucky. 48 hours before the flight the tour operater may release some seats back to the airline if there are holidays still unsold they can at least recoup some of the cost by filling the plane!
Joe
Hi Eileen
So pleased you got a good price for your flights and thanks very much for the tip re discount on xl flights. I am sure that will come in useful!!!!!!!
Have a great holiday
Pauline
Ps Marie hope you and your Mum have a great time.
thank you very much pauline, im sure i will have a brilliant time!!

Hi all new to the forum , ive been looking for cheap flights and am waiting for the prices with xl to drop , there are flights from newcastle this tuesday with thomsonfly.com for £3.62 it works out £88.98 each with taxes which isnt bad , just waiting now for august 28th for our first visit to arillas
Good Morning , My friend and I will be over for a week in aug 28th and I searched high and low for a bargain holiday. I managed to get ours on ebay for £299 inclusive (SC) for both of us. we have to fly from gatwick although our nearest airports are Birmingham/Cardiff/Bristol. I have searched the cheap flights from these airports and although they start from £39.00 when I put the informatiom in from these airports they end up over £350 plus each.
I did notice that up north you get loads cheapy flights. and lots of cheap package holidays :-(
I was looking for a school summer break holiday for myself and my 2 children and although they started at £249 an adult SC or BB bargain holidays(one daughter is 16 and classed as an adult in the travel world but not an adult in UK ) by the time i had filled all the booking pages in the holiday was over £1,200 for the 3 of us which in my eyes is not a bargain!
Regards,
Chrissy
Crissy our nearest airports are Birmingham/Cardiff/Bristol too - and there are cheap flights out there from these airports.
We have just come back from a last-minute holiday in Arillas. I booked from Cardiff flying out on 31st July (booked it 2 days before flying) with First Choice 'flight only' It started off at over £250 but I waited and kept my eye on the flight. It dropped to £150 then dropped again to £106 (this being £34 plus taxes) which was when I booked. There were still a couple of spare seats on the flight when we went.
There was also a cheapy flight from Bristol leaving on the friday for a similar price - but it left in the evening and returned in the morning so you sort of 'lost' a day.
Dont envy you flying from Gatwick leaving from this area - I try to avoid it at all costs, and with this security thing it will be worse than normal.
Good Luck!
We booked our August flights to Corfu shortly after Christmas and paid around £176 each, all in. However, on Tuesday 25th July I looked to see what the prices were with XL, flying on the 28th July (the date we had booked) and there weren't any seats. Out of interest I looked at Thomas Cook and we could have bought return tickets for the princely sum of £45 each, everything included!! I just can't wait until I retire and can just hop on a plane at the last minute!!
Fiona
im still checking for 11th sept
from manchester the flights are so expensive
dont think i will ever get there
Same problem here looking for cheaper flights from cardiff or bristol, dont mind when we fly but would like to be back anytime from 10th-20th, fingers crossed we find something though I may be inclined to book right at the 11th hr
Look forward to bumping in to any of you who will be there
Ang
Hi Sue,
I checked on the system for you and you are correct, flights from 11th September at Manchester are above average. The outbound flights are selling quite cheap but the inbounds are very high, i'm assuming there is still a lot of holidays to sell so the seat only price is being kept high. Excel are the only carrier showing under £200, but the flight times are awful.
The loads on the aircraft though are still relatively low so it may be worth holding out as long as you can, always risky but the prices can fall dramatically which to be honest has been the trend this summer.
Happy hunting
Joe
thanks for that joe.
try a week before.
hope i can get accomadation.
thanks again
suexx
Hi Sue
I have sent you a private message, but cant see if it worked........ still getting used to the new format of the site.
Let me know and if not i will try again.
Yvonne x
thanks yvonne

thanks for that

Hi, I've been looking for cheap flights from Newcastle 29th September and there seems to be hardly any flight only. I'm hoping this will change nearer the date, hopefully the airlines will release seats if holidays don't sell.
Don't know what I'll do if I can't get my Arillas fix before the winter sets in.
Jill
same here jill.
dose the potofino have a web site?
thanks suexx
Sending you a pm Sue.
Fiona
Hi Sue, we have been telling Spiro to set up a website for a couple of years but as yet he hasn't. Friends have put a web site together for him so once it's up and running will let you know.
Hope there are some cheap flights available for end of September.
How was the holiday Fiona, let me know how things are over there.
Jill
Any one need a cheapie from Newcastle this friday(1st september) for 8 nights xl have seats for £51.50 each return , the fuel supplement is more than the flight .
Have been checking XL website but they don't seem to have anything for the 29th September. Not having much luck at all looking for that cheap flight I need. If anyone sees anything PLEASE PLEASE let me know. It wouldn't be a problem if Mick didn't need major dental work which is costing the same amount as a flight normaly would. I have mentioned that I go with out him but I can't put his reply on here!
Jill
Hi Jill,
The cheapest I can see here is:
Web fare - Adult Sale Fare £34.99 GBP
Adult Regular Fare £44.99 GBP
Fri, 29 Sep 06
Flight TCX997K 13:45 Depart Newcastle (NCL)
19:05 Arrive Corfu (CFU)
The actual price with taxes is £78
Joe thats BRILL! Going to have a look when the Boss goes out. The ones I have looked at look cheap but by the time the fuel supplement is added and then taxes it has been working out at about £490 for us.
Jill
Quick get it booked Jill it's a snip at the price.
Glad to help, you can see if its still available here www.flythomascook.com (http://www.flythomascook.com)
Its only one way but if you are a little flexible with the dates you can get return flights (including all taxes) for about £140
Hi Joe
Just looked at the website and if we change our dates a little can get the whole return journey for £348.90 for me Mick and Calum. Don't think I would get it cheaper even by waiting till last minute. Going to work on Mick when I get home, believe it or not this is the exact amount his dental work is costing, know what I would rather spend the money on!
Jill
Good luck Jill.
Let us know how it goes!
Fiona
I agree thats a good price for the two of you, it may fluctuate a little in the time remaining but the prices tend to hold quite high outside of Manchester and Gatwick, they are the cheapest I have seen for Newcastle in quite a while. Good luck with it all and i'll let you know is anything better comes through!
Joe
well we booked first choice in the end just a tad under £300 from birmingham...good times so what the hell we only have 15 more sleeps..cant wait whooopie
Ang
That price was for 2 adults and 1 child. Can't believe it though, Micks passport hasn't got 6 months left on it so have renewed it this morning so not sure whether to book or not, do you think it will be back before the 25th September????????????
Think I'm going to have to leave Mick at home what with his teeth and his passport!
Jill
Hi Jill,
Only just arrived at work this morning, 90 minutes on a rain soaked M60, no fun at all! Looking out of the window here I can only feel my mum made the right decision heading off to Arillas.
That price really is fantastic then, I say go for it, especially if this lovely weather continues!! The passport office say about 3 weeks, but to be honest its usually less, shouldn't be as busy now as it is earlier in the year. You can get the post office to do the service for you, it costs a little extra but you get it back much quicker. I can't believe a UK passport is £65 now; our pilots need 2 so they get very grumpy about this.
Out of interest I had a quick look at the entry requirements for Greece and a UK passport needs only to be valid for 3 months after the length of your stay so Mick would have been fine, I know its a bit late telling you this now, all the information can be found here http://www.greekembassy.org.uk/pages_en/visas.html.
Hope you manage to get away.
Joe
Hi Jill,
I renewed my passport earlier this year, i sent it off beginning of June and i received it back 2 weeks later and that was in the busy summer months, so i dont think you will have any problems in receiving it back in time.
I got my passport back within 8 days and I didn't pay the extra money to have my documents checked at the post office or for the quicker response. This was in June too so you should be ok!
Cheryl
PS On a totally different subject and gonna sound really thick now - how do you put your photo on here? Sorry computers are not really one of my strong points!!!
Same here Cheryl,i have NO idea either!!!!cx
At least it's not just me then!! Have been wanting to ask this question for ages!! Hopefully some kind person will help us both out!
Cheryl
If you click on profile at the top of this page and then go to 'Forum Profile Information' it gives you the option to upload your own picture. Click browse which will let you search on your own computer's hard drive or your own photo CD's for any photo's saved there, select one and click ok, it should appear in your profile.
You made need to resize the photo before this though as there is usually a size limit. Pictures can be easily resized in Paint a free drawing program that comes with windows, if you're still having problems let me know.
Thank you - will give it a go when my boss goes out! Will no doubt be back on to you with this one tho!!
Cheryl
Hi Joe
Just going to go for it, must have my Arillas fix before the Winter. Friends are going on the 29th so if we book for the 25th we will still get some days with the.
I paid for the Post Office to check the forms so will just cross my fingers and anything else that I can.
Wish I was your Mum having such a hellpful Son BUT THE MAIN REASON living in Arillas - Heaven
Jill
Joe - how does your mom get on living there over the winter? What's it like at that time of year ?
I'd love to be able to go down to the beach on Xmas day :)
Jill, many thanks, Its all looking good now and its always nice to have something to look forward to, let me know how you get on.
Hi Lozicle, Corfu is very different in winter, especially the weather (I think it snowed in January). When I saw Arillas in March I would never have believed that it would be ready for the tourist season in May, it looked so different, the sea was up to the road. There were hardly any shops open, just a couple of Taverna's and the odd Restaurant (Thank god for Town Pizza in San Stefanos, which opened at weekends). It was all very traditional. To be honest the weather wasn't much better than here at that time of year, just a little sunnier, and its very damp as a lot of the new buildings are built for the heat, not the cold. You can go to the beach on Xmas day but you'll need gloves and a scarf. Its still wonderful in Winter but bear in mind there is practically nothing to do, of course this is heaven for some, not sure if I counld manage though, I'm to used to my 24hr Tesco and wireless internet unfortunately :-)
My mum loves it, don't see her ever coming back to the UK, would it be a holiday if she did?
I don't think I'd mind that at all :)
The only thing that I would really miss is my broadband internet. I'm guessing that arillas doesn't have broadband ?

Joe, we arrived the last week in April, you still would never have believed it was going to be ready for the tourist season the following week! But they pulled it off, working all hours day and night, I suppose it's the same the world over once the Adrenalin sets in it's amazing what we can pull off :-)
I don't blame your mum for not coming back, I'm sure she is living life as it should be lived, hopefully I'll bump into her in September.
Eileenx
They must have worked miracles, I remember in San Stefanos, the new public footpath had not been finished and a couple of supermarkets had been knocked down so they could rebuilt and this was the end of March. It's amazing how versatile everyone is, I wouldn't have a clue.

I did see a couple of signs for wireless internet but didn't have my laptop with me so don't know if it actually works. The 3W's bar in San Stefanos has fast Internet access, 5 euros for around 30 minutes, not bad, I used it to book flights in winter so it was a godsend.
hehe i'd have to have BB in my house if we moved over there - online game freak here.
Warcraft by any chance, one of my work colleagues here is on it all the time
haha that's the one :P
I'm addicted.
Hi Joe
Thanks for the info on how to get our photos onto the sign in.
Jill
Excellent news, its good to know I have some uses, now if you could just convince my boss to let me go home early today...... :-)
Hi Jill,
www.xl.com is showing Newcastle to Corfu 7 nights departing Monday 25th Sept at £237 for 2 adults.
I couldn't remember if you are taking the family with you so I only priced it for 2, but there will be availability for more.
Eileenxx
Hi Eileen, I just couldn't wait any longer and just had to book. I've given myself a headache as I'm so excited, I really thought we wouldn't be able to afford it again this year. Pity we will miss you again but I am going to have a gentle stroll up to see your villa if thats ok.
You know I am now going to have to look on the XL website dont you.
Jill
It's a great feeling to get it booked up and out of the way. I bet you are so excited that you have the flutterbys in your tummy!
**********YOUR ON COUNTDOWN NOW**********

Eileen just checked XL.com but says no flights are available for the 29th Sept. So glad I booked would have been ill worrying about it.
jill
More than likely they stopped their Friday flight on the 22nd September.
Joe did say that the operators start cutting back in October which creates a shortage of flights. Last year I thought of going over in October, but the prices were ridiculous, even at the last minute....but hey who cares your on your way!!!!! :-)
Eileenxx
October prices are really strange, flight only prices stay really high, in fact at the moment they are the highest I have seen this summer yet you can get a really cheap package deal if you look around.
I've found myself some cheap flights.....£126 pp including tax and good flying times too.....BUT I've just discovered I've got shingles so can't go.........hope someone else can make use of them.;)
http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/flights/index.cfm?step=search_results
Oh! you poor thing. Hope you feel better soon and that you can sell your tickets on, what a disappointment!
Short notice I know but just noticed some good flight prices with Thomas Cook from Manchester:
Fri 8th Sep, MAN-CFU, £52
Tues 12th Sep, CFU-MAN, £87 (very early morning flight)
Fri 8th Sep - Sat 16th Sep, CFU-MAN-CFU, £125 Fantastic price!
All the above prices are the price you pay, hope somebody gets a good deal here.
Your friendly Weekend Planner,
Joe
PS,(http://www.websmileys.com/sm/sad/1346.gif) just in case anyone is wondering I don't get any form of commission (I wish),my job is technical not sales, these deals just fly across my desk and I'm hoping somebody gets a cheap deal to Arillas.
I've found an update on another forum for the special offer code when booking with www.xl.com
Type Tesco into the special offer box for £20 discount.

Joe even if you did receive commission I'm sure none of us would be so petty as to begrudge you it when you have found us a bargain.
Eileenx
Nope, certainly wouldn't!!!
Thanks guys, I just didn't want anyone to think that I was using this forum as a free form of advertising. Don't know what the accomodation availabilty is like this weekend, but if i'm sure some good deals must be available.
If anyone needs flights to corfu this upcoming weekend prices are showing around £10 - £20 plus taxes (approx £50 - £60). Return deals are looking quite reasonable to: 15 Sep - 22 Sep approximately £120 final total. These are from Manchester & possibly Gatwick.
Bon Voyage
Just seen a cheap deal through My Travel (manos holiday) staying at Perry and Jimmys in Arillas. 16th Oct for TWO = £295 for everything... I wish we could go - that seems so good!
With any luck there should be a few good end of season deals on the way.
Hi Blondegirl, is that for 1 or 2 wks at Perry & Jimmys, we have 21days in Dionysos 1, for £760 everything, this is for the 2 of us. ;)
it was only for 1 week
