Hi all!
What you all think, we have a Topic for photos
and now we can make a new Topic with Arillas (Corfu) videos?
So we have videos and photos separate!
I think it is a good idea, what you mean?
So I start with one from June 2007!
"Arillas beach or nice view"
(http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/4561/200705310609corfubestviaz6.flv.th.jpg) (http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=200705310609corfubestviaz6.flv)
A good idea Marika.
It looks as if you were staying in the room that we hope to stay in next year.
You have taken many similar photos and videos to me due to us both staying at the Horizon, so I will start to get some videos formatted to show you.My photographs are nowhere near as good as yours though.
I suggested to Marino that he should play a slide show of guests photographs and videos on the big TV screen in reception. Maybe he will do it next year.
Keep on posting Marika.
TerryW
Hi Terry!
Yes, it was the room under the roof and I think you have the best view from there!
I am so looking forward to see the videos and photos :-) :-) :-)
I think your photos good too :-) Sometimes it is only a second between two photos and only one is fantastic, the other not!
Ok! And you must have an eye for that.
But I can tell you I make ca. 200-300 photos in one holiday and only maybe 20 are very very good!
The others good too, but not fantastic, only normal.
You remember the tree in the night! I have 7 photos of it, but only one is perfect!
Hmmm! I have not so many videos only a few.
And the most are from the thunderstorm, because on a video you can see the lightnings better and it was so fantastic. I like thunderstorms!
But with some I must work first, they are very long. I want to make short ones of them, but in the moment I have no sound on my computer and than it is a little bit problematic to do that!
With the slide show it is a very good idea! Tell him that and look what he think about it!
So, I keep on posting :-) :-) :-)

I take the video I post in the the topic A-Z ... here too, than we have all together :-)

Marika
You are very talented, the videos are great, keep them coming, you've got me Arillas.com mad again.
thanks
Amanda
One from the Horizon, like yours Marika

terryw ill be able to wave to you from above alexs on the balcony when were both out there end june/july..yammas
I think we should both learn semaphore so we can sneak of to see Eggy at the Coconut without the wives knowing.
It would be also nice if you could watch out and signal to me when the daily papers arrive at the shop.......
Yammas
Here I have a video from the 26.09.2007 17:00 h
(http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/8011/02corfu180909102007006gl3.flv.th.jpg) (http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=02corfu180909102007006gl3.flv)
I have tried to condense 1 hour of sunset into 5 minutes by speeding up video. I don't have sophisticated software but its a start. The sound is poor so it is best turned off.
It doesn't look as if anything is moving but you will see people walking very fast along the jetty, and the sun is moving
(http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/2416/arillassujnset2ul1.flv.th.jpg) (http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=arillassujnset2ul1.flv)
A slightly better version is here and I hope to convert it into a screen saver
i have no problems about slipping away to partake in a few lunchtime ouzos has i have more grease on my heels than a chip fryer, and ill deliver you a morning paper personally?isnt that good of me seeing they dont arrive till about 12pm,but that could be the excuse to the wifes to go walkabout as the abbo,s say, cheers for now
Very good vid Terry !
Now we want time lapse film of insect's evolving and spring daf's coming up !
You know like that Attenborough feller !
This was a photograph Marika that has been transformed to a avi file
(http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/6208/sunset2oq1.flv.th.jpg) (http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sunset2oq1.flv)
Hi Terry!
Very nice idea! Looked very nice!
And the video with the sunset is beautiful!
So nice ones I don't have! Only from the thunderstorm :-(
But it is very funny that the video from the Horizon is nearly the same like mine :-)
Maybe we find more like that :-)
Marika
Hi!
I have another video from the big thunderstorm 07.10.2007 17:58h
I cut it a little bit, for the highlight, because it was very long!
Marika
(http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/5578/unbenanntkk0.flv.th.jpg) (http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=unbenanntkk0.flv)
It was worth publishing that video Marika, to show the lightning at the end. Its hard to imagine that the video was taken at the lovely sunny place I saw in July.
Are the videos taken with your DMC-FX01 which is a Panasonic I think?
TerryW
Hi Terry!
Yes, I make them with my Panasonic DMC-FX01 Camera!
It looked really so different to sunny days!
It was fantastic, but I like the sunny days more :-)
And next year I will make more Videos from sunny days.
It looked better on this side. Lovely sunny Videos from a lovely place.
Marika
Loved the lightening video.Bit too technical for me to try and do something like that.Still using an old 35mm Olympus camera for our holiday snaps but really should join the 21st century and upgrade to a digital.
Jen,
Perhaps you should ask Father Christmas to bring you one. The Panasonic DMC-FX01 is one of the smallest Digital cameras available and it is only about £180. Just imagine all the photographs you could take and not have to worry about getting them developed.
Marika,
Do you think it would be worth you posting similar topics on "Deutschsprachliches Forum". It may get some German Arillas fans, interested enough to post some topics themselves. It seems a shame that the German and Italian forums are available but nobody seems to use them.
TerryW
Thanks for the camera suggestion. Part of the problem is not knowing where to start, what to buy etc but I suppose like anything else once I was shown how to use it I would eventually get the hang of it.
The Olympus is an old faithful friend, must be about 16 years old now and the most technical thing I have to do is change the batteries and put new film in.
Santa's list already full but maybe I can ask for an early birthday present in time for next years holiday.
A short video of an Olive Grove - taken just outside Arillas on the way to Magaloudes.
Try to have sound on when you watch it ( thats if you want to watch it)
(http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/8627/olivegrove1wv1.flv.th.jpg) (http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=olivegrove1wv1.flv)
Watching -and listening- to the olive grove video almost as good as being there.Next time I watch it think I'll move over and sit beside the livingroom radiator then I can also get the feeling of summer heat to complete the picture.
To all you clever technical minded people who post pictures and videos a big thank you.Keep them coming. It will make winter pass a lot quicker.
Where is the video of the olive grove?( Am i being thick here?) I can't see any video!
I guess that makes 2 thickies....riggers
Riggers, I just came back to check your reply, and it's there. I've seen it now. See we're not really thick, it's the technology thats thick!!! lol.
Now i see it maggie. who was hiding it....riggers..
A video taken from the Paradise Taverna, showing the main road fron Corfu Town to Arillas and the view looking south towards Corfu Town.

Hi!
Here I have another video a make in Sidari!
The same day I have the picture from, where I am staying in the wind!
Puhhh! Very, very windy!

Marika, and anyone else who is interested
I have resurrected an account at www.snapdrive.net for the sharing of large files. The videos on Imageshack are shown in a reduced format due to file size restrictions. I am putting the original videos on to snapdrive.
Anyone can download them ...Username is - arillasman
Password is - corfu
This an ideal method of sharing large files although the uploads and downloads can be slow. It will be a good place to share Christmas music and even some films for Eggy.
Video taken on the walk to San Stefanos from the top of the hill

Not much originality here but I may as well post it - the Pier and Beach once again

Hi Terry!
That will be nice! If I am back home from work, I will have a look :-)
There I have more time and all my Videos are at home :-) So, later!
The video "Braekfast at the Horizon" is funny :-)
Hmmm! My breakfast looked a bit different! Coffeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! HaHaHa!
See you later!
Marika
A video from my recent flight is added here http://www.arillas.com/page/content/view/164/152/lang,en/ (http://www.arillas.com/page/content/view/164/152/lang,en/)!
Just to keep you busy!!
Dimitris
That is excellent Dimitris, a very noisy plane though. I bet it was thrilling though to feel the wind around around your ears and to see such wonderful scenery. I hope this is the first of many videos and Photographs that you will publish from your exiting trip.
Thanks for showing it but................How can I book up for next year?
TerryW
Fantastic. Viv
Wow!
That is a fantastic, brilliant video Dimitris :-)
Wow! It must be a nice feeling to sit in that plane with the wind around the nose!
Suuuuper! The video topt all my videos! Beautiful!
I want to see more :-) :-) :-)
Marika
I have another video from the thunderstorm.
Hmmm! Sorry, no sunshine video :-( like yours Dimitri!
Next year! :-)

I received a Google Alert today with a link to a very good slide show of Corfu.

Hi Terry,
just saw your video!
Suuuper! And so many nice pictures inside :D
Thanks for that :)

I received this link today of a plane landing at Corfu Airport.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=abjOSvybym4
Its good with the sound turned up.
Does this get you excited?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=f757b3UAYS4
I hope the Easy Jet landings are as good as that...
Google Alerts are sending me quite a few links, for Arillas, this week.
This one http://youtube.com/watch?v=ArjpLI9voE8 is a good video showing Annas Studios, and there must be some people on it who can be recognised.
Another is a short film that shows at least one familiar face
http://youtube.com/watch?v=JVfMACvFyac
This is an excellent seven minute video about Corfu Town.

Hi Folks some great videos i can almost smell the sea air and souvlaki cooking over charcoal mmmmmmm save me some please :-)
Tony
I found a very good video of Corfu here -
http://video.aol.com/video-detail/corfu-kerkyra-island-home-video-trailer/3777534512?icid=acvsv3
There are some interesting views and a speeded up journey through a village . Can anyone recognise the village and I wonder if this could be our roving reporters Pug 206. You have to be quick to see it though.
I had a holiday from work last week and "grabbed" a few snaps from the webcam. When I had about 50 pictures I had a go at a slide show with the pier being the focal point, because it the only thing thats doesn't change much with daylight etc. The pictures are in a random order and as the weeks go by I may get a better selection. I think Eggy's car is on one of them.
I have added some music which is a bit risky because I don't know what the second song is about, I just loved the tune. I hope someone can tell me what the song is about and hopefully it fits in with the lovely webcam views.
Anyway here is beta 1.

Terry thanks for the videos. That's the first time i've seen the landing and take off, i usually have my eyes shut tight!
Sharonx
It may seem strange Sharon, but the reason I always look out of the window and try to take photo's etc is because of my fear of flying. I saw a television program about cognitive therapy, and it made sense to face your fears head on and by looking out of the window I have things to see and think about, instead of worrying about the take off and landings.
I'm glad you liked the videos.
They really are good Terry. I am also a white-knuckle flyer, though I have had to do it a lot of it in my life. You are right - face it and it isn't so difficult.
Loved the yellow thingy...
Phil
Dont think I can! lol, i have to keep my eyes shut until its levelled out, coming home in May we flew above and around a thunderstorm. Has anybody seen that, when you can see the lightning going downwards! It was terrifyingly exciting if you know what I mean, lol.
Sharon x
I have another video from my holiday in June!
Sorry, it is no sunshine video!
But a very fantastic thunderstorm!

Great Videos Marika and Terry. :)
riggers..
I love the videos Marika, especially the thunder storm. Can I use it to put some music to it please?
Thunderstruck eh EEG?
Have watched so many great video clips from Terry, Marika and Dimitris. They bring everything back to life and I never tire of seeing them. When I've read all the posts I often go and find them and have another look.
Thanks to all of you.
Phil
Thank you Terry and Phil! :)
Ok Terry, I will looking forward what you do with it :-)
I was thinking about that too, but I have in the moment no music on my Computer!
So, that is you turn :) Thanks :)

Another short cultural Video Ha Ha ...,,,walking past Amourada last week.

Dionisys Tavera Afiones to Arillas
(Bit jerky!!!)
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4815495269198941656&hl=en
Both videos are great....I loved it!!
Arillas seems so quiet now... like an old Western village... sort of expected to see tumbleweed roll down the road!
I loved seeing the Driving video Kes. I would like to get a fixing for my video camera that could go on a hire car. Or, I may have to get one of these ...
http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/drivesafe-vehicle-camera.htm
It would just depend on how good the quality of the video was. I would still like a video of the journey from the airport to Arillas.
TerryW
Thats a really good idea Terry - not bad either for £65.00 but then I thought they might do them on Ebay... and they do.. not quite the same but does the same job.. £27.99 plus p & P
Terry ..yes the trip from the airport that is a great idea..I had thought of it but it would prob take me 3 hours !!!!
Actually only need the road out of corfu town and the little bit outside Arillas ..cos thats were I always get lost...ha Ha!!!
Cracking driving video Kes - I really enjoyed that.
Thanks :-)
Kes, im sat here in tears now as we did the same trip with Spiro (in the old van) the day before we came back and it's just like doing it all over again. Thanks Viv
Great video Kes did you set off from the Nightowl or in that vicinty ?
Tony
First clip is coming from the Dionisys taverna overlookinf St Georges... down the very narrow path...
aprox 2 cm leeway eitherside of car with wing mirrors turned flat!!!
I am not sure if this link has been posted before.
I found this at lunchtime today :-) :-) Its a classic eh Mick (MnM)?
I wonder who the cameraman was? :-)
I've seen that one before Terry, still makes me laugh though. Good on ya MnM.
riggers....
the cameraman is a very good friend of everyones and he does not live far from where this was filmed, also no animals or insects were harmed during the filming of this clip. (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-sick-smileys-376.gif) (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/Free-Sick-Smileys/) Mick
PS. I'm still on sticks after 19 weeks and a bit fed up.
Ha Ha Mick. We all know who you mean. So enjoyed his handywork with websites! But you and this video have now become an Arillas classic. It will be watched by many, over and over again. Every time we walk along that road we will joke about yous two and the video. And that will be quite often for us.
Hope your leg heals soon. Thanks for sharing it all
Phil
Are we talking about Arillas Jeremy Beadle.
hope the leg is better now mick.
just think ,you will be running to the coconut next year..yammas
Dimitris still has all of his fingers riggers. Well, at least so far....
and kevin - he still won't beat me to the bar! And Peri will have poured my Black Russian before I reach the seat....
lmao
Phil
Kevin, I never run anywhere unless it's for last orders, forunatly we don't have that problem in Arillas and at home we have the policy of 'last man out locks up' but the beers not as good, Justphil if I send our lass t bar she'l move you out of the way with her elbows if I promise her wine or ouzo, :-) Mick
I believe that Mick if she can belt a man in a wheel chair round the head she could sure clear a bar.lol. Give Mary my love. Viv
lol both!
glad you're both on the mend
Phil
Viv, will do,
Phil, Mary might be on the mend but guess who fell off a stool sprained his good ankle and landed on his damaged foot, yes and it does hurt but you have gota laugh (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-happy-smileys-819.gif) (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/Free-Happy-Smileys/) or cry(http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-sad-smileys-324.gif) (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/Free-Sad-Smileys/) bye for now, Mick (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-sick-smileys-376.gif) (http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/Free-Sick-Smileys/)
Mick - I sympathise. If you can fall, it will always be on your injury. Jen and me both have injured thumbs. Long stories about them. But you can guarantee we ALWAYS hurt them some more. One day they will stop us carrying drinks back to the table. Any suggestions?
As for the elbows, I would be so charming and still get served first! Let's put it to the test in the Nut in 2009 (Hannah please read this!) And Mary, take up the challenge... and may the best Arillas Addict win!
loved your take on Arillas in 2008. Hope to meet you in 2009
Phil
Just messing about with Photos and joining three different Panoramic views of Arillas.
This website can wet your appetite for Corfu, but more videos of Arillas are needed.
http://www.corfu-tube.com
How about uploading your new vid, Erja?
I'll have a look at that Terry!
Wow, Terry, that's really WHET my appetite.
I love this video. It really captures the experience of driving through small villages
Wish I'd video'd my last excursion Terry !
Mind you I would have had to edit the sound as we got to a 45 degree corner and faced a near vertical drop down a road so narrow I had to pull both wing mirrors in.
No chance of reversing out of it as there was a local behind me so we had to bite the bullet and go down it not knowing if it was a dead end.
The girl's in the back were near hysterical and my mate (the navigator) is just saying "calm down " like a scouser on acid !
Dunno how we managed to get back to Arillas !
Loved the video, Terry!
Lol Barry, we've had a few similarly hairy moments too............
lynn xx
Nice one Terry...sat here at work streesed out just and watched the video...don`t know if I`m happy or depressed watching it......
Roll on May
I just watched this video with a Greek lady Christina (who works in my building) as she happened to walk past my desk and she said "Plenty of room. That is not even narrow!" :D
This next one had my right foot feeling for the brake pedal. The sound of the engine gives a real feeling of driving up the mountain road.
I'm glad Colin doesn't drive like that!!!
Wet your appetite for the flight to Corfu with these videos. You just have to wait 5 seconds for an advert, you may get a Thomas the Tank popup that can be closed but turn sound up and enjoy.

Snow in Corfu - December 2007
Great videos Terry
But I just wouldn't want to be on those roads, so near to the cliff edge, with all that snow! Too scary.
Amanda
Lots of Eggy's friends are on this one
There is an interesting description of the above video
Writen and prodused by Adesmeftos in 2001 was it a prophesy of todays crisis? Based on true stories of people of Corfu, many of them relatives of Adesmeftos. Spiggos, Matoes, Ko-yies, all real people you can still meet, some of them are still alive, in Arillas Corfu.
Gosh Terry
That donkey can talk the hind leg off a donkey.
Amanda
Eggy could watch that video and practice his Greek with the donkey for hours. I hope he can translate it and tell us what its all about. If you look at the time on the video you can hear the donkey say "Eggy" at about 6:46.
There aren't many videos where the talking comes out of an ass!!!!!! :-)
This is interesting !!!!!!!!
Arillas is a resort in North Corfu. Many locals live there and this is a small segment of the 6/1/09 from the local church, blessing the holy water. The main priest is 84 years old and was futured on Rick Stein's programme on Corfu. Fit as a fiddle, rick commnented. He is actually my father.
The harvesting of the Olives, its a shame that the commentry isn't in English.
Was that our friend Anna at the church? Viv
I recognised Dennis and Nikos, and thought I also saw Stamatis from the supermarket....
Yep I agree with you there Sandy but was that Anna? Viv
Aaaaaahh, Terry, that was papa Spiros in the church. He is such a lovely man. Last year we went to see him blessing bar Artemis. Perry is also his son. They're a great family.
Thanks for that, it was lovely to watch.
Have to agree Maggie. Lovely man, lovely son, lovely wife, lovely family.
Thanks Terry - really enjoyed.
Phil
Terry I'm loving your videos - it's making me want to come back to Arillas now!
Take Care
Mary
I love this video. Thanks Tontelf for posting it on Youtube.

Ah Terry. yet another one! In our (slightly) younger days Jen and me have walked that journey. Past the taverna in San Stef (er, no, IN the taverna...) on up the long winding hill. Opposite Kostas Supermarket, right past Christos (in there for another break / beer.) Look left (the cameraman didn't) and see Alex studios (stop to say kalimera and natter) then Annas (Mythos and Amstels please luvver) then look opposite to the bakery (in there too....) Down the hill and right into Mathraki. End with a nice cold Mythos there, Jen into pool.
Delightful way to spend a couple or three hours. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Phil
Glad you like it Terry it only seems a couple of weeks back since we were on the scooter its now nearly 6½ months ago
We wont be in Corfu this year as we booked for Alykes in Zakynthos which is very simillar to Arillas so roll on 13th of august :-)
Tony
I had a feeling it was you, Tony. It was a really good idea for a video, better than in a car.
The face on this next video looks familiar, but can't get a clear view to make sure.
Tony . I remember that little journey well (on a quad ) !
Some lovely big holes in the road (my rear end remember's) !
I think the perfect music track to accompany the video is "Two of us" by the Beatles.
It's on the Let it be album.
If you can get it try knocking the sound off your vid and playing the track on your media player or hi - fi.
Well done mate !
I have had a another play with sunset photos but the outcome was a video that is too long (8 mins) so I will condense it over the next few days. I just love the photos though, that were taken by forum members
Anyway here is the extended version - you may fall asleep though. The second song is called "Sunset" and its by April Wine, a nice song with words that fit quite nicely.
Marika's photos look fantastic on it.
Terry, it isn't too long for me. I might be alone in that, but I don't think so. I was disappointed when the youtube timer told me it was nearly over...
Well done mate.
Phil
Thanks Phil,
I must admit that I did find it quite relaxing especially as you can hear the sound of the sea. I wished I could climb into the PC screen and be transported there.
Terryw
terryw as usual your talent is endless...........yammas
Oh - wow! Terryw - you're very clever! All the tension in my neck and shoulders is slowly slipping away! Brillliant, thank you!
Hi Terry :-)
Thank you very much, that you took some of my photos in your video!
The video is brilliant :-) WOW :-)
I fell in dreams when I saw it!
Thank you, Terry!
With lots of love

Magnifico Terry!!
Just viewed this & thought "What a great way to start the day!"
You've done it again :-)

Here's another video:
I've posted some of these pics before, but there are a few new ones to whet the appetite!
P.S. Best viewed in full screen mode - the definition on youtube was better than I'd expected!

My appetite has been whetted :)
I hope that someone can show us how to take videos with our camera! and how to post them....!! We're not very technically minded. It's not an expensive camera, just a little digital one that I bought for Barry when he retired last year, but better than the ordinary one we took with us to Arillas two years ago - we "lost" all the photos!
Hi there Janis,
I'm sure they'll be lots of people on hand to show you how to record & take videos while you're there.
The new digi-camera's are SO good & being a slight techno-phobe myself Idon't like to deal with anything majorly complicated :-)
I know what you mean about losing pictures. We lost quite a few last September due to a malfunction on the camera & it was very disappointing.
I won't make that mistake again however. This time round I intend to have two cameras!!
Hope you have a great time & get some great shots too!
BeckyB x :-)
We plan to shoot some video this year. We`ve got plenty of stills, but this time we want some moving pics to show our family what they can look forward to if they decide to go to Arillas. It`s great fun watching the videos posted here. Keep them coming.
Paul D
I agree Paul, I love the videos to.
TONYNEW did a fab one last summer which was filmed from the back of his scooter travelling from San Stef back to Arillas. Really simple - but just captured the moment.
Keep 'em coming folks! :-)
This is fun!!!!!!!
You can do this with any Youtube video but I have done this one with an Arillas vid
The original link was this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjYFpVxl5mQ
You change the /watch?v to /warp.swf?v and get this
http://www.youtube.com/warp.swf?v=SjYFpVxl5mQ
Now see how many other Arillas videos you can see
Oh - I love messing :-)
Wow, Terry, that's ace - you are so clever. I don't even know how to update my profile pic x
Terry,
What fun, I think that trying to chase the videos could drive you insane. Who knows where you will end up. Really enjoyed it.
Paul
Well done, Terry. Very clever - I enjoyed it too!

Spiros, from the Horizon, posted the following video on Facebook. There is something about it that gives a lovely feeling about Greece and Christmas. It features Christmas Eve/Sarajevo by the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
I would love to know what the captions mean. Could someone please try to translate?
(http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/9530/greekxmasvideo.mp4.th.jpg) (http://img11.imageshack.us/my.php?image=greekxmasvideo.mp4)
Terry
have you got Spiro's facebook ID or name. I was also trying to contact Spiro that left to work in San Stef!!! anyone know?
Hi Raff
This is the other Spiros. I can try to get contact details for Spiros in San Stef and I think Marika may know as well.
Hi Terry!
That is really a very nice Video, especialy the music!
I tried also to translate it, but no way :-(
Oh Raff, I can't help you!
I know , he worked in the Condor in SanStef, but I have no details, where you can get in contact with him! Sorry!
Marika x x x
If you are on facebook you may contact Spiros Spiritsis Mouzakitis, the owner´s son, who works at the Condor, for more information. You may also check the Condor, San Stefanos facebook group page for contact information. Failing that, send me a p.m., and I have his, (Spiritsis), contact details.
Hi Terry W,
I have just watched your You Tube video: Sunset 3
posted April 30, 2009.
It was so beautiful, seems like it was filmed from the Horizon?
Who's the singer?
The combination of pictures and the song almost brought tears
to my eyes. Lovely memories. Thank you.
Connie
Terry I think the video is an advert - babel fish will give you the translations
After your post Connie, I just watched it again. Like you say, glorious memories of simply being there. I said it before Terry, absolutely fabulous.
Phil
Hi Connie, I loved Terry's video called Sunset 3 too.
I hope he won't mind me answering for him. The song was Sunset by Air Supply. :)
lynn xx
Hi, thank you all.
I just watched the video once more and realized that some of
the pictures were Marikas, wow girl, you're a true artist with the
camera!! Thank you both Terry and Marika for the wonderful video
that will keep me warm all winter!!!
Love Connie x
And thank you too, Lynn,
For telling me what song it was. Will try to find it on a CD.
Love Connie x
Quotesome of the pictures were Marikas, wow girl, you're a true artist with the
camera!
Exactly Connie. Marika can turn a glass of wine on an outdoor table into a work of art. We have two of her pictures hanging on our living room wall. She went to all the trouble of getting enlargements made and sending them to us from Krefeld in Germany. The forum is so lucky to have a photographer like our Marika. Combine that with her physical beauty, and her outgoing personality.... shouldn't be allowed really! She is bad for my blood pressure....
That photo was in Akti this last July, with Della. The Arillas film stars....
Please keep posting the pictures Marika luvver!
Phil
I second that Phil,
Can't get enough of Marikas photos!

Thanks for all the comments. I get a bit embarrassed because although its nice to get compliments I don't post videos for that purpose. I love messing about anyway and I do the Arillas videos with the hope of promoting our favourite place.
This video took quite a few hours to do and a few weeks of planningt, but the worst bit was waiting for it to upload to YouTube. It took just over two hours and I left it uploading from work as the connection is faster. It would have taken about 5 hours from home.
When I got home I had an email from YouTube saying "Your video, Arillas Xmas.mpg
, may have content that is owned or licensed by WMG." I was expecting it due to copyright but I was gutted that I couldn't post it. Hence its on Vimeo.
I have nearly finished version 2 that will hopefully be OK on Youtube. Plus I think some presents may get left at Brouklis.
Thanks again and Phil revel horrid and Barry, you two should do a double act - just so funny.
I wish we could all have a party one day.
At last - I managed to get it on YouTube. A few changes (thanks Sandy) and different music due to copyright problems.
Merry Christmas to Everyone from Terry and Helen
Footnote :-)
Santa wandered up to the North Bech during filming and lost his tunic. Its a good job it was cold!!!!!

It wasn't long enough.
TEN!!
Happy Christmas

Yeiii! This music works better for me (had a peek before leaving for work this morning) Cheers Terry :)
Brilliant Terry !
Have a great Crimbo !!
I couldn't post this on Youtube.
I heard Green Days "Have the time of your lives" and felt it sums up our holidays in Arillas.

It works Terry and an excellent song choice for excellent pictures and exceptional place :)
Terry. very nice, this has got me ready for my annual 3 weeks of Arillas. 10th time this year.... keep them coming
hi terry thanks for that enjoyed the xmas one
Terry, your pictures and music sum things up really well. Keep them coming!!
Yammas Paul
I found this video today of the North Beach. I have a feeling that there will be some deep sighs after watching it.
Terry, deep sigh....
When I walk along to the North end of the beach from the rock outcrop, I always take my shorts off so I don't look like a voyeur. But what I am looking at is Gravia, the headland towards San Stef and the cliffs behind our beach. I have seen so many naked people in my time, there is almost no novelty there.
The first serious conversation I had with Sandy was unclothed. It took us two all of two seconds to get over that. Naturism is about freedom and innocence. As soon as it gets to be anything else I am off to the Nut or the Bow, fully clothed and doing more enjoyable, interesting things.
Truth is that the Northern beach in Arillas is as safe and welcoming as is possible. I would have taken my boys there if we had found Arillas early enough.
I just loved your video of walking the north beach. It sort of said what I mean....
Phil
A very deep sigh.....that can't have been 2009 Terry, the beach is too wide. I can't wait to get back there.....peace, tranquillity, freedom and nothing else matters. Roll on May....
PS I'd say one second Phil....lol
Not to worry Terry 202 days and we will be on the beach cooling off :-)
Sandy,
It was taken in late July 2008 in the evening. There are more videos here
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=miltiadis2007#g/u
Every time we go to Arillas we always visit "The Art of Olive Wood Workshop" and after seeing this video I can now appreciate the amount of time and skill that has been put into making all of the pieces on display.
I apologise if the video is upsetting to some members, but its the content thats important, not the presenter.
It takes more that that to upset us Terry!!!!!
Excuse my ignorance Terry, but I don't understand why this video should upset anyone.
Amanda
Ok, I now understand.

I wish I could do videos like this one, its one of the best films of Corfu that I have seen.
Thanks for posting it Szilvia Liptak

Here is another with some amazing footage and a very clever production of flights in and out of Corfu airport. It brings back the thrill of when you see the runway for the first on your arrival for your holiday

Both great vids Terry.
Thanks for those links, Terry. They just brightened up a cold January afternoon in Blighty.

justloved both Terry. Vimeo is a great video site on all sorts of subjects.
Phil
I've been having another mess about, and have tried to speed up a video of one of my drives around Arillas.
I couldn't post it on Youtube due to the dispute with WGM, as Montose are one of their artists.
Anyway Beta 1 - for Nikos :-) The Motorbike Mix

Terry.........you're a clever bugger !
Watch out M.T.V will be poaching you !
Just brilliant Terry.....
Wonderful video Terry I can't wait to show Barry when he gets home! That's done it now tho we will have to hire a scooter :) The music is great too!
Thanks for this it will be played over and over again
Cheers Nan xx
Great video Terry - I've never been around Arillas so fast!
Sara
*deep sigh* Oh how I wish it is summer... 8)
Thank you Terry and a good job!
I received a message about this video today. Its not Arillas but the time lapse movement of the clouds over Corfu Town are well worth watching. Good music too.
http://johncorfuworld.blogspot.com/2010/02/corfu-soundtrack-by-corfulandgr.html
Wow! That was some cloud movement there, Terry!
Loved the music - it said it was Moby, and I think the track was Everloving....
Listening to it on Spotify at the moment - love it! Thank you

Its a very professional video with fantastic photography and good music. Its best viewed in 480p mode in full screen. The information on Youtube is ..

Yet another cracking video Terry :-)
One for Erja as she will know the music which is by a Finnish band called Sonata Arctica. The music has always made me think of a takeoff and a landing. The first part is quite dramatic for the nervous takeoff, it then gets a bit more tranquil, and the landing is a relaxing fade out and you get that "Phew, we are down feelling"
WOW, what a fantastic video Terry, and the music is just perfect !!!
It really gives you a "kick" and excitement thinking of your next flight.
Won't be long now, I'm off to Corfu again on September 3rd.
Connie x
P.S. Do you know that all flights from the north go to the south of Corfu,
turn round at Messonghi and then head for the Airport before landing?
I have been sitting watching planes come so many times, with my heart
full of love, wishing everyone welcome and hoping they would be just as
happy as myself finally coming to this wonderful and beautiful Island.

Another great video Terry !

Excellent job Terry!
And yes, I know Sonata Arctica as they played at the rock festival in Finland http://www.ilosaarirock.fi/2005/english/sonata.html (http://www.ilosaarirock.fi/2005/english/sonata.html) where I worked few years back. I had to keep them in order at the back stage. ;) No mercy...
Connie you are a right softee :-). That version of Because is from the "Love" CD. Maybe a video with Blackbird by the Beatles next.
Erja, it must have been a great experience to be at a festival like that and to be so close to the bands. I was amazed to see how many bands were appearing and I see that this years is next week, and Faith No More and Biffy Clyro are playing. Biffy are one of my favourite bands. Have you got any photos from your festival days?

Here are Heidi and I happy (in 2005) after Anthrax's gargo arrived from festival in Germany followed by the band (original line up!) few hours later.
Trust me, it is hard work running the back stage and all the musicians are there to work as well. After they have played their gig though, it use to decend into merriment and mayhem ;) Good times, but glamorous it was not :D
Thanks for that Erja. Heidi and yourself always have fantastic smiles, but no wonder being at a festival like that.
I translated a page from the festival website and there are many photo's from 2005

Great vids Samwell !
I remember me and Susan on our quad going down that hill to Georgios !
I was bricking it wondering wether the quad would make it back up the hill with us both on it !
Mind you I could maybe have chucked Susan off like ballast !
Love the videos, Sam, thanks for posting.
We did that same journey at San Georgios on a quad bike too, and Barry, I know just what you mean about worrying, "Is it going to make it??"
lynn xx
Thanks for posting the videos Sam. I suppose it will always be difficult to get video on a quad bike, but the sound makes it feel real. Excellent videos and lets have some more.
I found a few more videos at lunchtime.
The first one could be deja vu to one of our members, who will also recognise the dog.
I bet its bark is worse than its bite :-(
This next one shows a lot of Arillas
Yes I do recognise him Terry, and yes the bark is worse than the bite. It is Kaloudis' little FiveO I think. Bit of a clue in who was holding him... The one who took my thumb off last year wasn't him - he is very gentle.
Nice videos again. Thanks
Phil
Phil, thanks for your posts whilst you were away, they made me so envious. I am on my 'holiday' now, but in the UK, we overspent on a new bathroom so something had to give. However, we have booked three weeks at marinaki for next year, maybe see you there, thanks again for the wonderful insights.
Thanks Vaughan and Angie. Hope we do see you there.

Speaking of the Marinaki, only 23 days until we are back there :-) :-)
I haven't got a clue what this is about but its worth watching to see how Lynn strokes Nikos :-)

I am not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I have to say that Dimitris's underwater video "around the jetty" is spectacular, especially when viewed in fullscreen mode and at 480p. The sound is also very relaxing.

I hope you like these videos. One is in English and one the other in Greek, both sung by the brilliant Blackmore's Night. I hope the ending is a nice surprise for our resident "Poet".
Terry, once again ..... just wonderful. Now I can't wait to be home again.
Lynns' poem is a beautiful ending to another superb video.
Thank you Val x
so lovely Terry ... another masterpiece ...... thank you!!.... please keep them coming :)
I said it on Facebook Terry and Lynn. FAB-U-LOUS. It's on the right public thread here too (no accident I hope and expect...)
To those 25 anonymous guests who wonder about Arillas, we all tell it like it is. All of us do. We are not a clique, we are a club. And membeship is free. Just open your hearts and come and find out. Hundreds of us can't all be wrong. It must be worth a try.
If you live in Italy talk to Liz and Gotty. If you're in Romania talk to Jozef and Maria. If you're in Germany talk to Marika. If you're in Ireland talk to Dorothy or Liz. If you're in..... anywhere? Just talk to us on our forum. My list might include all of you. We know between us everything there is to know about a little slice of Corfiot Heaven. Just gve it a try. That is all that we did
Phil
Terry, a fantastic video as normal, and the song is fantastic. Have you put it on u tube and if so what under what title, as I want to have it on the tv tonight when Pete gets home.
I wonder did you all know that you can see all the photo's on picaso and all u tube on the tv if you have a moden one. It looks fantastic. Viv
Thanks for the comments. I get a lot of pleasure out of doing these videos and if just one person visits Arillas, due to liking an Arillas video, it will be worth every minute spent doing them. Also on this video I hope people love the music by Blackmore's Night and it was such good fortune that they recorded the song in Greek as well as English.
The Arilla TV site is having a reasonable amount of visitors, and the average viewing time is 15 minutes.

Brilliant video again, Terry, well done, and it goes so well with the lovely Blackmore Night's song.
Thank you also for including my poem, I feel most honoured.

Lynn, I'm the one who is honoured. Your talent as a poet is far more creative than any of my slideshows or videos.
We need a musician to put some music to your words so we can have the Arillasitis Song. BARRY - where are you ??????????????
I just felt like posting this again as I watched it at lunchtime and 11 months is a long time to wait before we go again :-( . I'm sorry that its self indulgence but ............

Another BIG SIGH!!!!!! after watching this video....
This is an interesting landing with the plane approaching from the north. The best bit is towards the end with good views of Corfu Town.
I think Dimitris has been keeping this amazing video a secret.
Try to watch it in 1080P HD with a maximised screen.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Thomas for posting this on Youtube
terry
i remember our 1st yr in arillas ,2007.kay and i walked up to afionas and then on to san george ,and somewhere up the top was a home belonging to a old greek lady with a little wall around her home ,we sat for a while ,and sje came over laughing her head off muttering away in greek ,and offered us both a pommiegranite ,that she had just picked off her tree,,thats the ARILLAS MAGIC..yammas
This is a fantastic video of Corfu and it includes Arillas, Akrotiri Bar and the Brewery - Yammas
En francais moi raison d'etre. In English, my reason for living.
When skies are grey and all around me cry, I come here to feel their pain, and understand. It lifts me up and gives me peace. My life becomes worthwhile again and I can help them recover. I feel like this every time I set foot on those happy shores and watch Gravia quietly presiding over our procedings. So majestic.
We are but human, and Arillas for me is one of the Gods. Yes I am pissed, but this is the truth I'm telling you.....
Phil
Its good to see some of the checks on the plane. The only negative thing about this video is that its leaving Corfu and not arriving
Another lovely video of Corfu
Sunsets from San Stefanos
Fires on Corfu - Lets hope it never happens again
Now this is more like it Terry.
Great videos many thanks.

The one thing that VIDEOS can't give are the smells of Corfu. Oooops that reminds me of another video I must post :-)
I am just "messing" with YouTube annotation etc. This video will keep changing so watch this space. :-)
Any requests for messages?
Terry ive allways enjoyed the videos you post its like being there please keep them going if only I had the skill to do them also.It looks so difficult and you do them so professionally
Thanks Terry.
Love the videos. Please keep them coming.
This is a bit boring but I will share it anyway - This is a 50 minute long video of the journey from Arillas to Corfu Airport. The roads were very quiet as it was the day of the Yes/No Referendum. I am surprised I managed to get it uploaded as it was a 5Gb file
