Title: Mathraki
Post by: lew19 on May 30, 2010, 02:44:00 PM
Hi All,

Has anyone been to the Mathraki studios. We usually stay at the Dionnysos, but have changed to Thomsons to stay at the Mathraki. The only important thing is that we will be in Arillas from 12th July

Mathraki Is a good place to be and if you don't enjoy I will personally give son Akis a big slapping. - Quiet location in a good spot to beach and extras.

Enjoy

Lynda, Mathraki are just a bit up the hill and have a lovely pool, and great hospitality. Our Eileen and eggy both endorse them so that is plenty good enough for me. We have spent a couple of afternoons there enjoying the pool and the company. New Tony (lol) stayed there and loved it. It will be fine, whatever you need.

In truth, getting to the Rainbow is not a big deal. That's where you are used to being, having stayed at Dionyssos, but believe me, it isn't far. Nowhere is far in Arillas. It is one reason (of many) why Jen and I adore it.

Have a great holiday

Phil

Thanks Lynchan, can you tell me anything else, how much is air con for example
Title: Re: Mathraki
Post by: lynchan on June 27, 2010, 03:13:21 PM
i think air con was 5 euros per day.safety deposit 10 euros 1 week 18 for 2.i would highly recommend these aparts.the family cant do enough for you.the food is excellent and good value for money.for us an ideal location.the prices in most of the tavernas had gone up just a little from last year.it was in the supermarkets that you could see the difference.my hubby smokes and while we were there his brand of ciggies went up by 6 euros per carton, drinks also very pricey cheaper to buy in uk.it was nice to see so many people from last year.we even did the walk to san stefos and did it the long way took us 3 hours but it was lovely.would i go back to these studios yes without a doubt.we had an early pickup for our journey home and nic the owner made us baguettes to take with us.

What worries me is that Thomson's website say they are not available for every week of the remaining season. I wanted to book a cheapie for the last week in October. They are being used to guide punters to more profitable destinations on the Thomson programme. Disgusted Arilliac from Tunbridge Wells.

Oh well, you know it's me.

Hi
Trying Arillas for the first time and stopping at the  Marthraki Apartments.
The description of the rooms and facilities do not list a kettle.
Are they available in the rooms
Thanks

Hi Turkeyfoot,

This is from their webpage at http://www.mathrakistudios.net/index-3.html

lOur studios advantages.
The Mathraki studios are built in a way to keep you cool on the hot summer days and they offer lots of room for your own comfort. They are equipped with almost everything you will need. A fully operational kitchen area with electric water heater for fast coffees or tea, small but functional oven with cooker. There is nothing that will not fit in the large c
osets, two spacious single beds will guarantee you have a nice and peaceful sleep.

The Greek people call kettles, water heaters.

You will have a great time and you will get answers to most questions you may have on this fantastic forum.

Hi Turkeyfoot

You will have a fantastic stay at the Mathraki studios. We had a blissful two weeks in June.

They are really well equiped with kettles and stainless steel jugs and little teapots for your brew! Even a lemon squeezer and egg cups ! They also provide tea towels so dont bother packing them. You may need to take mugs if you prefer them to cups.

You will soon be sitting on the balcony having breakfast in the lovely warm sunshine listening to the chickens clucking, I would love to be there myself !!!

Have a lovely time

Cheers Nan xx

Hi All,

We stayed at the Mathraki in July. It was our fourth time in Arillas. I have been meaning to write a report of the studios so now is the time.
The studios were excellent, very clean, spacious. Air con was 5 euros per day. It was 20 euros to keep the room on but that was until we left.
Nic and his family are so helpful and work so hard, always available to help. When we arrived Nic and his sister-in-law were there to greet us even though it was 4.00 a.m. They had put us on the top floor, and due to my husbands walking problems we asked to be put on a lower floor and this was done straight away, we are so grateful for this (there are only two floors, the family live on the bottom floor.
The bins are emptied every day, towels changed every other day and beds changed weekly.
If you want a mug you only need to ask Nic.
Nic's nephew even took us to San Stephanos in his car.(yes we did want to go)

The food is excellent, service excellent, studios excellent,

Overall Mathraki is excellent, I wish we were going back, you will have a geart time

Having just returned from the Mathraki apartments, having visited for the first time, I can only say that nothing would stop me from returning again. Nico and all the other members of the ''team'' were friendly and  helpful no matter what time of day (or night).
The rooms were, as in most Greek apartments, basic. What more do you want other than somewhere to sleep? They were clean and tidy and had everything you need for your stay.
We ate at the bar a few nights and had a cooked breakfast before we left, no complaints at all

having just returned from the wonderful mathraki appartments nikos the owner told us that they wouldnt know until November whether they would be with Thompsons again or going independant. He said there were quite a few things to take into consideration,ie if Thompsons wanted them again, if they offered them enough money, and lots of other things. When looking on Thompsons website they are now there for next year.
My question is, if I book now will I be in the Mathraki studios or could they transfer me elsewhere as I cant imagine this has already been sorted out.
replies would be much appreciated

I have experienced this problem myself with Thomson elsewhere.
Although it is shown as available they will not be able to take the booking as contracts have not been signed with Nico. You will be told that it is unavailable to book at present

Suggest you keep in touch with Nico for the latest  updates, so as you can book direct or with Thomson to ensure you get a vacancy

Have just checked the Thomson site for the week May/June bank holiday it says only two rooms left. So someone has booked the other sixteen rooms

the plot thickens I have just tried to book on Thomsons website and it would have let me. I dont want to do it and then they tell me that I have to be transferred elsewhere
as I would book them independant if need be

Hi Julied
have emailed Nic and Akis and just got their reply........ they still haven't signed up yet with Thomsons so I have just sent Thomsons customer service a strong email asking why they are selling holidays that don't exist yet, will keep you informed if I get a reply
