Post by: Paul & Denise on May 23, 2008, 10:26:21 AM

Jen and me are very sad to hear that rumour. We count Giannis, Litsa and Spiros as good friends. Will be watching this thread very closely. Let's hope it isn't true.

What will we do without our Jazz night!  It is such a popular restaurant that is a real shame.

When we were there we heard 2 versions, 1 from little brother who told me that it brole his heart and he would probely open it if Yanni hadn,t by the 22nd, and 1 from a good friend of our's that it was not going to open at all this season. Now I am only guessing but seeing that 22nd has now passed and it hasn't opened the over conclussion could be reached, but personly I would give it another 2 weeks and see what happens after that. OMG it is getting bad, what with Arilla Inn not being open last year and this and now Thalassa, I just love this place both for day and night.

Please please please let it be open when we get there.

Mango mentioned the Arillas Inn.  Does anyone have any info on what will happen this year?

I don't think the Arilla Inn will open this year as the father died.

Maybe negg and wegg could open these two for the summer. After all, it will give them something to do......

Now taking personal opinions and the owners situations out of the equation, having two prime sites on the beach front closed will not look good for new comers to arillas and especially those new forum members who may go looking for these places that we have all recommended.
It may well be that the owners of other establishments know and respect the reasons for closure and in turn will benifit from such as there will be less business dilution, however it is sad to read and to see that for what ever reasons these great places will remain closed.Yes I am dissapointed we used to like the Arilla Inn and missed it last year and now it seems that we will have to go without the Thalassa.
It will not spoil our time in paradise but it makes me think why??maybe I am too business oriantated but these sites have been there for some time and it is a great shame that they are unable to open.
Has Kosta's opened as he is I believe Yannis uncle? Ah well I shall soon find out.

We were so disappointed that the Arilla Inn was closed last year as it's always been our first night meal and we've been hoping it would have reopened this year. We also love Thalassa so fingers crossed that the problems there will be sorted and it will as lovely as ever.
Every year we wonder what changes will meet us, one year air con another a lifeguard. Let's hope this year there good ones and not more good places closing.

Cant remember what it was called but it was pieces of lamb in a tomato and herb sauce with mash potatoe and lovely crisp veg and for pud walnut cake and ice cream with loads of honey, It was just runing over the plate just as you like it lindypops and no salt in site. Sorry, will buy you and your man a nice meal next time we are all together. Love Viv
Sorry Ang----and the question was--- O yes-- during the day as well. Viv

Sounds like a fabulous meal and I love mash potatoes.  I was amazed when I saw mash on the menu in a Greek restaurant for the first time and that was in Ag. Gordios but it does go so well with the delicious sauces they come with the meat.  Kostas does some fantastic meals, love the Kleftiko, it had a mustard coating.  Makes my mouth water.

We ate at Kostas on their opening night as well.  Decided to do it the Greek way and order a selection of starters - giant beans, stuffed peppers, cheese pies and cheese saganaki.  Only trouble is we filled the table and there was no room for Viv and Pete's meals!!
I'm drawling now just thinking of the walnut pud with ice ceam!  ;)

Really sad to hear Thalassa may not be opening this season.  We always have a couple of meals there at least. Usually treat it as a special night out. I really hope they sort things out.
Have to agree with you Ang it is a worry when two of the main establishments in prime sights are not to open though.

viv - that sounds delicious. like BG I adore the sauce and mashed potatoes. Jen hates it - she won't even have baked beans on the same plate as mash. Everyone to thier own eh? As for walnut pud, ice cream and honey - bring it on..........

We sometimes have a just pud night - we can never eat both cos we always cook too much, so we forget the main course and just have pud.

Can't believe we might not have Giannis and Litsa's stamna or Penelope's Delight in July (or their wonderful company.) We just spent lunchtime in the pub discussing our very altered plans for the two weeks if it really happens. PortoFino for the sunsets maybe.

best wishes
Phil

Like everyone else I hope and pray that this beautiful Taverna is open.  Like previous posters have said, it seems almost sacrilege that another beachfront location will be empty..

We did that Phil one day. We werent that hungry so just had omelettes at Poppys (BS studios) and later on  had crepes at Helens which made a nice change.  This year I want to get one of those lovely soft bread kebabs from the snack bar and sit on the beach with a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down.
