Title: Heavy Thunderstorm.
Post by: Eileen on August 26, 2006, 09:41:21 AM
Ohhh I see on the weather forecast at the top of the page a heavy thunderstorm is on it's way.

Fingers crossed for everyone in Arillas that it blows over quickly and the sun gets it hat back on!

Crawsue,

I wouldn't pay much attention to it...ha ha unless it says it is going to be hot, hot, hot for 10 days, that's when I want to believe it!

The day before we left on Fri 4th August the weather forecast said 4 days of overcast skies with some rain.  The night we arrived there was an almighty thunder storm with heavy rain, but it was fine and sunny in the morning.  It was glorious sunshine right through until the following Thursday when there was another thunder storm, this time the rain took longer to stop, but by 2pm we were lying by the pool.

When is it you leave?

Eileen.

I remember that Thursday well, the kids couldn`t wait that long and were swimming in the pool (rain and all) by 11.00, the water was lovely and warm as well.

Please can someone tell me what sort of weather to expect in October? We'd love to have another week or so in Arillas before winter.

well i got  about 12 days of glorious sunshine,i day of hazy cloud, and this morning a couple of hours of rain showers followed by sunshine again,i wouldn't take the 10 or 15 day forecasts as gospel,it was forecast rain &thunder during the last 14 days i was there, but only 2 hours of rain and no thunder!,so just go and enjoy the glorious sunshine on offer

I arrive on Monday, for two weeks, and really don't want rain.  I live in NI and get more than enough here all year round!  Fingers crossed, eh.

Hi Sue.  I have got a really stupid journey as I live in Belfast.  I am flying from Belfast to Gatwick tomorrow afternoon (Sunday), sleeping at the airport, then on to Corfu on Monday.  I am staying for two weeks at the Bardis Studios.  This will be third time there.  I used to go to Arillas alot when I was younger, as my Grandad had a villa there all summer for many, many years.  Then I have the same silly journey back again with another sleepover at Gatwick.

I couldn't book direct from Belfast with Thomas Cook as they wouldn't take one person in the apartments they sell for - they wouldn't even let me pay a single supplement, they just said no!  Booking separate flights from Belfast to Corfu was too expensive, when you consider the taxi from the airport.

I suppose I haven't got a bad deal - £350 including my transfers from Belfast.  That includes the £100 single supplement I have to pay at the Bardis.

Can you tell I spent alot of time researching the best deals to get there? haha.

Where are you staying, and are you flying from Gatwick too?

Amanda

Hi Amanda, We are flying from Birmingham, and are staying at the Dionysos 1, The Rainbow, been there many times, so hope we will meet you there, we are going to suss the Bardis Studios for probably sometime next year if Nancy can come up with flights from Birmingham, see you when we get there and probably have a drink somewhere, we frequent the Mirage bar as they are really nice people, as well as The Rainbow,  :)
See you soon,
Sue x

hi willowlark,
I can fully empathise with you about the travel difficulties.  I'm a NI resident myself and we're just back from a fortnight at Bardis Sun.  We decided to fly to Manchester as the flights worked out cheaper than Gatwick.  We stayed the night previous and the night following our holiday in the HOliday Inn and the Travelodge so its alot more expensive than the fortunate English travellers but I knew it'd be worth it.

Hi willowlark!  The family we met last year came from the Shetlands and their trip was very long - a ferry first, then a train and taxi and then the plane.... thats a very long and expensive trip too.

Know what your saying about the storms , it was specatacular watching them out to see , then yes the mother of all storms came at 3.00am, we sat on the balcony watching until the lightening hit the beach then bid a hasty retreat when the rain came down, didnt dampen our holiday tho , while the weather was a bit grey we just went for a couple of walks into the nearby resorts .
