GOOD MORNING :-) just doing my last minute packing - ready to fly out Wednesday. I'm doing something completely out of character and have booked a whole glorious month in arillas - on my own!! I've been a couple of times before but this is a real adventure for me!! May I ask all you arillas experts a few things? Firstly, whilst I'm coming out primarily to relax, are there any regular activities that I could join? I've read about a painting group and also when I came once there was a Pilates/ yoga session on the rooftop at Akrotiri bar. Any other suggestions so I can enjoy the activity and also meet other people? Lol, sorry but I dont play darts !! My other question is I have booked my transfers with holiday transfers .com . Has anybody else used them as they do seem rather cheap? That's it for now- I'm really excited about my travels and am looking forward to meeting new people and new experiences!
Good morning alli m and welcome to the forum :)
I have found that talking to people in Arillas is as easy as an easy thing as everyone is in a lovely frame of mind on their hols, not to metion the lovely locals.
As for regular activities I haven't got the foggiest but I am sure someone else can help you with that.
The walk up to Akrotiri is a sports event of a sorts in it self :)
Have a most excellent holiday and please write a report how you found it all after you get back :)
Welcome Alli
I'd suggest the Ouranos Club if you're interested in yoga. The back entrance is a left turn just up the track to the Akrotiri. When we went a couple of years ago they were offering drop-in classes for meditation, various types of yoga and pilates. They were a friendly lot and there seemed to be plenty of other solo travellers. I think they're Dutch but everyone spoke English. Every year I intend to go back there and to the Buddhist centre again, never making it because I'm too busy eating, drinking and socialising ... and I'm a yoga teacher :-)
I'm convinced that you won't be on your own for long in Arillas, everyone is so welcoming! And, yes please, let us know how it goes? Have a great time.
A lovely place to meet people is at Sharons pool bar, opposite the jetty. The world famous 4 o'clock club is so friendly. Sharon, Sue and Marion will make you welcome - very often they have a quiz afternoon that is good fun, just join in with one of the teams.
Many thanks erja, cypress and Anne for your replies.I'm here now so will check out what's going on in and around Arillas. There's one thing for sure though, you're never stuck for a friendly face or a chat over a glass of two of greek wine! Thanks again.
