Click on quote Sue then write your message underneath the quote. If it is not working then you have a problem...and I'm the last person to help out with that!

Perhaps you underestimate you abilities that advice is spot on.
If you don't want to quote the whole post you can simply delete the characters you don't need but make sure /quote is still at the bottom of the text you are quoting or the forum won't know where the quote ends and your reply begins :)
I have tried to insert a quote and after your guidance still cant get it to work. I must be having a really bad blonde moment!!
It still wont do it... it takes me straight to the reply box... nothing is happening.
Glad im not the only one!! ;)
Yes that correct and if you look in the reply box you should see the post you wanted to quote is there in full.
When I click on "insert Quote" it takes me straight to the reply box but there is nothing there.. do I "block" out the quote I want then click on insert quote... I'm confused now

All I did here as click on the quote icon at the top of your post and type this text, seems strange thats it's not working for some, you've not been fiddling with your settings have you :)
oops I hope not! it still wont work...
I just realised what you are doing wrong, you are clicking reply then the insert quote button (the one that looks like a speech bubble), don't do that, all you need to do is click the quote icon above the post you want to quote, no need to hit reply. It's just above the word insert on the first line of this post :)
is this it
I dont have a speech bubble.. its just a small grey box with insert quote. It keeps taking me to the quick reply box.

Dunno then, you should just click on the grey box labelled "quote" in the top right corner of the post you wish to use and it does all the work for you. From what you have said it appears you are doing everything right.
Thanks though Joe! I will give up for the moment as its irritating.

Dont give up blondegirl, if i can manage it you can!
Click on where it says insert quote, then it will open up to a reply box with the quote in there, you then type underneath what you want to say. You can also delete some of the quote if its just a specific part you want to quote.
Sorry it doesnt say insert quote, it just says Quote at the top of the post next to modify, just click on that and the rest is as i said. It literally does it all for you.
sometimes mine doesnt say modify... when I do insert quote it doesnt go with me, if you see what I mean.. I end up in the reply section "all on my own".
I think I will go and dye my hair!!
Sorry i see what you mean, yes it should only say quote, it only has modify on your own posts, so yes just click on quote which is the only icon at the top of the post and it should do it??

Hi Blondegirl
Just trying this quote out to see if I can get it to work as I never have before.
Amanda
well I inserted a quote but not the one I wanted!!!!!!!
Amanda
Whichever post has the quote you want to use, click the Quote icon corresponding to that post, it will then display that quote.

Hi Smiffy
I'd not thought of that. Hope this works, here goes.
Thanks
Amanda
Yep well done :-D !
Well there is nothing wrong with the forum software as I've tried it on four different computers and it all works fine, the issue must be at your end but can't think what it is, if everything else is working there is no reason that it shouldn't work.
To see if eveyrthing is working properly you can insert a manual quote, type the below for me in your next post and see what happens, type it exactly as shown but where you see the letters qte please change them for the word quote:
[qte=Joe] Hello [/qte]
If you do that you should hopefully get the following result:
Quote from: JoeHello
here goes!
Quote from: JoeHello
hope I have done that right!

I bet you are glad that's over and done with!

Its whether I can do it on my own is the test!
Well its works fine when you type the code in manually so there is now problem on your computer either.
Are you sure you clicking quote, not clicking reply then insert quote?
I have no idea!
is that working now?
