I must remember that, Neil - Where`s the toilet?  Well, I think that`s what it says   :-)

Cignome spelt wrong I expect but if you pronounce it as ive spelt it then you will be saying excuse me- pardon me. All the rest of the general greetings and politeness I think all of you already know. xx

The thing I find entirely baffling is that looking at the Greek letters does not tell me how to pronounce. It would be great if someone put the Greek word then an English way of pronouncing it for us blondes :)

Rachel B

I found that as well Jo.

On the greekpod101 videos I've been watching on YouTube,  they say it in greek first, then spell out the pronunciation for you. It's really useful.  There are some that don't spell it out for you so once I know I'm saying it properly,  I have just been writing them down myself.  It definitely helps.
At the moment, i have 4 sides of a4 full of phrases etc that are keeping me very busy. It's fun though, I'm enjoying learning it - can't wait to get to Arillas to put it in practice 😀

Take a look at:-

Also, which may help with reading/pronounciation, buy a couple of cheap DVD's here. Greek speaking with English subtitles and vice-versa.

!'m finding this handy. Type in a word or sentence in English to be translated to Greek and there's a little speaker icon which pronounces for you.

Love your new profile Rachel......

Think the way you are approaching it sounds great, I am rubbish at languages I even failed my basic French at school, but doing it your way maybe even I could learn a little Greek, I don't care that I can't read the language I just want to speak a little more of it. 😊

The love affair continues.

Cypress,  My friends and I have amused ourselves greatly in the past with that speaker on Google translate Lol - I shall be sticking to polite Greek words though for now haha

Thanks Val :-) I'm enjoying it, I've really taken to it. I looked into actual lessons the other day but at £20 an hour, I'll teach myself lol - I'd rather save that money for €€€ :D
