Hi all,
After a lengthy search of local and other airports for a 'reasonable' flight, I think I have just hit the jackpot!
Gatwick to Corfu,Thomas Cook, return, all in, meals both ways, tax, choice of seat, 20K hold+ 5K cabin baggage, zero card charge and on line booking for £228!
Think I have 'discovered' something. If you don't book 2 or 3 weeks, but like I did, 18 days, one or other of the flights 'halves in price. Out for £153, return only £74!
Coach transfer from Cardiff £25 and 5 and a half hours each way. Rail with First National £12 each way if booked well in advance direct from Cardiff to the airport, change at Reading, only 3 and a half hours. Train I think!
Whoopee!
Martin.

Thanks,
Tried booking the train, fares gone up. Bus however, 'Express' both ways now 4h.30min. £36 return, booked! Not bad as going to Bristol would cost petrol and two bridge crossings at £6.20!
All done and dusted, ticker added, countdown begins.
Martin.

Hi, Martin, our fellow Taff.   Really pleased for you. Great price; well worth the trek to Gatwick! We`ve done that a few times - might just do it again if Cardiff flights become even more expensive.
Did you put in for one way flights or for return?

   Best wishes,  Paul
Arillas - `perfect antidote to life`s stresses and strains`!

Hi Paul,
I did a search for two weeks, then three. Yes, the T.C. website allows it! I need to be back for the 25 th., so I did a search for return flights starting on 6 th. and coming back on the 24 th. To my amazement there was a vast difference in the total fare. Tried it on other dates and got similar results. The one great thing about Gatwick is the flights to Corfu are quite frequent, so there is a good choice of start and finish dates, unlike Cardiff and Bristol, once a week!
Bus should be O.K. too, leaves Cardiff Central bus station at 23.00 on 5 th. gets to Gatwick at 04.00 on 6 th. leaving me an hour to get to the check-in, flight is at 07.00, so I'm not hanging about the terminal all night. Should get some sleep on the bus.
Yes Kev, definitely got the Arillas buzz.
See you in the autumn Ann and Keith?
Was going for three weeks 'fix' in Arillas, but 18 days not bad Jo!
See you there Barry and Pat!
Time I was in bed, goodnight all,
Martin.

Will we see you again, Mary? I do hope so

Janis

Sorry, Pat and Barry - I clicked on "post" before reading it - we will see you two again as well!  I can't believe we've been visiting Arillas since 2007 and Sept/Oct 2012 was the first time we met!
