Hi,
we are arriving in Arillas for the first time on 17th August for 2 weeks, any top tips would be welcome. In particular how are the mosquitos this time of year ??

Erja

Hello vanjubee,

Welcome to the forum and I hope you like what you find in Arillas. :)

Mosquitoes are around most of the summer so better to be prepared rather than not. I know I am ;)
Life is good ;)

Hi,
thanks for the response. We are arriving on Friday and very much looking forward to it. We have been to San Stefano a couple of times which we really liked, so have high hopes of Arillas.

Arillas is even quieter than San Stef. Everybody is incredibly friendly. I recommend the coconut bar, Perry, Hannah & Costas will give you a warm welcome. Yiota in the shop next door is an angel! Theres a few names to get you started!! Have a fantastic holiday.

Eileen

I second Perry, Hannah & Costas....and the angel next door...Yiota!

Pre-dinner drinks and watching the sunset from Ammos are a must... http://ammosarillas.com/en/

Akrotiri....heaven on the headland.... http://www.akrotiri-cafe.com/

Eftihia's on the seafront for chilling out....quintessentially Greek...my favourite place to disappear to with my book in the afternoon....quietly reading, people watching....

Mozzies....as Erja says...be prepared...you may be like me and not be bothered by them...or like my daughter whom they feast on....start taking anti-histamine tablets before you go.

Happy holidays,

Eileen.x

If you can use it, 50% DEET spray is essential for Jen. She uses a full tin of Boots Repel per week (on all exposed skin and her feet and legs) and wears pop sox and long trousers out in the evening. That's mainly when they bite you. For the first time ever, she had not a single bite in all our 3 weeks.

ger

soooooo envious!!
pre meal drinks malibu cocktails!
chillin early afternoon in ammos
walk up to afionas early morning breakfast at porto timoni
walk up to akrotiri anytime!
graziella or efi watching the sunset

i have got to stop now making myself depressed.
mozzies, i am a smorgesboard to them, but, i have a cunning plan and they havent come near me the last couple of years, so, i shower using tea tree and lemon shower gel, sparay liberally with avon skin so soft, no perfume!! works for me!!
sorry phil works for jen, but i don't like using chemicals, but whatever works for you!

I was going to ask best place for a beer or two before heading back to the apt for showers after the beach or trip out somewhere.. looks like ammos??? like to overlook the sea. any others for an erly doors beer?

Ammosis lovely, and Sharon's pool bar is also a great choice, or for indoor comfort the bar chairs/tables at Thalassa. We use all of them frequently. You can't miss any of them, just lined up all along the front.

Have an Arilliac time
Phil

PS I never appear until noon, so have no idea about "early doors"

BlueHeather

We usually go for an early doors beer around 5 ish before heading back to apt - sometimes we go back get showered and back out for an hour before getting ready to go out later for our evening meal - the joys of holidays!

Ammo's great choice, also the Horizon sun deck (also on beach front) x

ger

ammos, but horizon sun deck is now for eating, you can sit and drink downstairs where the tables used to be for eating!

Ah right Ger. Didn't realise that. Makes sense though I suppose.
