I read in the paper this weekend that as from November, Nationwide will be charging for cash withdrawals abroad. We'll have to think again Phil....

Yes we will luvver. Worked a treat when Eggy took us to Sidari. Not only ATM gone, but now this. May not be that much to us, but justknow how it affects you.

Tell you what though, it won't stop us spending at least three weeks in Arillas next year.  And hopefully 30 the year after.

I heard this also, a few weeks ago, but on checking, it was the 'old' style cards, or accounts which were affected. I have a nationwide card, and so far have had no charges, at any bank. I think they do charge outside the EU. So Greece should be free.

That was certainly my understanding Terry

Hmmmm. Well, if it costs, then we'll just have to pay the costs! I don't think any other bank will charge less......

Sandy x

I think you're right there Maggie....all the other main banks certainly charge more.

That's really interesting Eddie. Thanks for posting the link. We are seriously looking at changing after a very long time with Lloyds. Cheers!

Glad to be of help Phil.

I think I will wait and see if Nationwide still pay the bank rate and not the tourist rate.

If it's the bank rate, then I think you'll still be better off with Nationwide.

From Novemeber the 10th Nationwide will charge all account holdersfor using a debit card abroad, for cash it works out at £3 per £100 you withdraw from an atm and for using your card to buy goods its 50pence per £50,will check these figures when i get home and correct em if i am wrong.I have the leaflet in my work back and its in the car ready for going home. The above figures are for europe rest of the world is different. So much for Nationwide being proud to be Different.I have emailed Nationwide complaining about it,but will wait and see for now.
Oh yes as a flex account owner whos wages are paid in every 4 weeks they say i qualify for free annual travel insurance worth upto £80(we get this anyway with M+S) but it might work out quite a good deal for some people.

Well, I may have to seriously consider whether to continue wit Nationwide if thats the cost! I do think £3 per 100 is a bit steep. I'd probably be better moving all my cash to Greece!

harold

I did email nationwide and told them in no short terms what i though of these charges to get at our own money, they phoned back saying that my comments  will be passed on,so anyone else who is angry email em.
