We are coming to arillas on 29th July for 2 weeks and would like to know if the beach gets really crowded.  We tend to spend most of our time on the beach (12 days out of 14 last year!) and like to have plenty of space around us.
The beach looks gorgeous in all the photos i have seen so far and can't wait to get there. :D

Hi

We were there in September last year while it was still relatively "busy".
The town part of the beach was  popular but you will be able to find more space if you are prepared to walk for 10 minutes or so towards the "clothes optional" end of the beach (walk to your right as you look out to sea).  However, there are no facilities other than sand, sun & sea, so go prepared.
It's predominantly families & couples, nice atmosphere, clothes on or off, it's up to you !!
We enjoyed Arillas so much that we're flying out again on Monday (13 June).

Hope you enjoy Arillas too.

The beach where the sunbeds are on both sides of the jetty can be pretty busy. If you are prepared to walk to the right, there is plenty of space and its quieter up on the nudey beach.  To the left of the jetty, walk past all the sunbeds and a few rocky bits and its blissfully quiet. Just take everything you need for the day!  Have fun.

We went in august a couple of years ago - there's usually enough space to spread out on the clothes optional end, although it's obviously busier than in lower season. Have fun, and try the mud!

On this "clothes optional" bit - is it the case that those of us of a shy disposition would be OK settling down at that end of the beach with out cozzies on? Or would we get hassled by the nudies?

No Pete, everyone leaves you to do your own thing, I would never had dreamed of taking cozie off until I went to Arillas, now I feel its the only way to sunbathe and swim.  That end of the beach is very peacful and a must if you dont mind a bit of walk from the village.

Don't worry you'll find others with their bottoms on of both sexes, and a few women with tops on too.  There's really no pressure or hassle from anyone so just do as you feel comfortable. As I said in an earlier post, we took young teens, two boys and two girls there a couple of years back, and whilst they wore costumes they didn't feel embarrassed or upset by the nakedness of others. I kept my trunks on first time I went there, my wife just went topless, but on a second holiday we both stripped off and enjoyed getting maximum sun and minimum tan lines. Your choice, it's such a wonderful relaxing place. Enjoy it!
