Just for once the weather last night (Sunday) was superb so Jan and myself decided to go all Al fresco with our dinner. 1st time this year.

As we will be in Arillas in 3 weeksish we decided on a meze.  This was the menu

Greek Salad
Prawn saganaki (home made of course)
Gigantes (again home made)
Chicken souvlaki ( marinaded in olive oil, lemon juice and black pepper)
Tzatsiki ( Morrisons finest)
Wholemeal pitta bread.
All washed down with a couple of bottles of Retsina.

OK so it's not on a par with the tavernas but we well and truly enjoyed it. Even had a decent sunset.

Yes it made a very pleasant change eating outdoors, last experienced in May in Pefkos.
Hoping for lots more when we are in Arillas. Roll on September 11th.

We did the same last night... we have been waiting for the weather to get warmer... we had... homemade spinach pies, garlic roasted plum tomatoes, then slow roast lamb cooked with lemon, garlic and rosemary with potatoes and steamed cabbage with bacon (not greek I know) and carrots and almonds, then good old english plum and almond crumble and mikes favourite, strawbs, jelly and cream.

With some bottles of wine, good friends and all the lights and candles on it was a lovely evening.

I know I've said this before blondegirl, but please could I move in with you and mike?

We eat well too. Have had many comments over the years. We eat good food (not always yer low-this, high-that, healthy options and all that rubbish, and only what our appetites demand.) There is nothing better than settling down to a lovely meal with friendly people or family. We will be doing it again next week with both our boys and our lovely new daughter inlaw-to-be.

We actually USE our cooker and oven. I am making the wedding cake, but practicalities prevent me from catering the wedding. I wouldn't be in the photos apparently, so no-go they say. Perhaps they didn't want My Big Fat Greek Wedding....

Learning to cook your favourite food is like self preservation. I have quite a repertoire of my favourite Greek dishes like y'all do. And often make them.

BG, I would come too and do the cooking!

sounds lovely but make your own tzatziki its so easy and takes only a few minutes and tastes much better

Great news, Lindy, glad you enjoyed.  But tell us more, what did you have?  (Yes, I'm nosy....)

And many congratulations on 37 years of marriage!

love,
lynn xx

Ha ha ha Phil.... let you loose in my kitchen?  If it was a big kitchen it would be great all working together and having a laugh... quick slurp of the cooking wine here and there, just like the best chefs do!

Lindyp, happy 37th!  Tell us what you had to eat then, xxxxxxx

Ahhh thanks justlynn and Sharon. I had Felafel, which were really good, and a Pork chop thingy. I don`t know the name of the dish itself, but chops which were finished on the grill. Really tasty, and I put 2 of them away! Not difficult for me. Also, salads, rice with veg, roast potatoes, thoroughly enjoyed. And a little lubrication. That was all after I`d been out with my mum earlier, and had a curry! I`m getting peckish again now. xx
