Walks in Arillas

Hi everyone.
First holiday in Arillas and we loved it, looking to return next year.
Thanks to Eileen for lending us the walking books.
One walk we did was from Arillas to Paleokastrisa, passing through Agios Georgios, round the cliff pass (fantastic views) to Angelo Castro Castle (may have spelt that wrong). The walk to the castle was a slight mistake I (Jane) was not happy about this as you cannot cross the gully to the other side from the Castle and have to walk all the way back up again. It would have been ok if we had not already been and climbed to the castle in the past. I was allowed 5 minutes of swearing at Dave for this. Then walked to Lakones? Above Paleo and down the donkey track into Paleo.
We were going to book a taxi but the quote from Arillas Travel to bring us back from Paleo was 50 Euros, we therefore paid 26 euros for a day trip that brought us back at 4pm. If anyone else is thinking of doing this I advise swimming gear and fresh clothes as we were quite ripe when we arrived in Paleo (we did take swimwear and a change of clothes).
We had enough time for a late lunch and stroll before being picked up.
Other walks coastal and inland using the book were also excellent but not as far.

Hi folks, was just wondering how far it is to walk to san stefonos from Arillas?

Not too far Mally roughly about 30 to 40 minutes there are a couple of different routes
you can take up the donkey track and pick up the road near the Gravia bar or carry on the track that brings you out nearer San Stef harbour

Hi Mally, Thats if you go straight there, without stopping to have a look at the wonderful views you get on the path and then deciced to take photo's and stop for a refreshing drink, either way it is well worth it. Viv

Hi Mally,
San Stefanos is only about [I'm guessing] 1.5km away from Arillas. As Viv has mentioned it can take much longer to get there, because you will be forever stopping to look at the view [& to catch your breathe!!] A walk to S.S & back can take us hours. Last year we got into the habit of taking a morning walk to S.S via the donkey track, stopping at the Little Prince for a Full English brunch for just 4 euros & then strolling slowly back via the road & on the way looking in the few gift shops. A few refreshing drinks in Arillas & before you know it, the day has just flown by.
The walk to San Stefanos is just one of many................enjoy

One "short" walk we like to do is to walk up past Villa Maria Stammatis to the church then cut through to the main road by Helios Court and the cemetery,left will take you back towards the garage, but go straight over and then bear left at the T junction. This will bring you down into San Steph past the laundry, then depending how fit you feel you can follow the road back to Arillas, or turn right at the top of the road out of San Steph and pick up the donkey track to Arillas, finally for the more keen walker drop down to the sea front at San Steph and take the donkey track all the way back.

The breakfast in the Little Prince is the best breakfast and best value for money there is in S.S. and so friendly. Viv
