Forget the darts for a minute. So many did their best, and a few triumphed. But the real winners were Phil and Jen. Watching Anne and Phil chucking pointed weapons at cork boards, sharing big hugs with Marguerita, meeting Chrisanthos for the first time. They are a fantastic couple who share our love of life and each other. When a man loves a woman.....

The darts mattered not a friggin jot to Jen and me, Neill will give you the lowdown on that. Bless. We are in our spiritual home, but last night at 3Ws I mistook that I wasn't at Brouklis. I expected to turn left as I walked out of the door and be home in bed. But as usual I was ferried home.

Believe me, this place is so special. It is full of people who actually like drunk old men, and drive them safely home so they can do it all again tomorrow. I have always tried to look after myself, but here I no longer have to worry. They feed me, they need me and (in brackets) I am not quite 64. Will they do it when I am?

Ask the Beatles.

Three of Three W's collecting their awards , last night.
Left to right - Michalis , Crisanthos and Yiogos.

Negg . Pete (Hippo) n Seamonkey Andy receiving the Team K/O award from Anne.

Andy , again, with his 301 singles final trophy.

That 'ole Hippo Pete receiving the Pairs Winners award on behalf of him and Negg,

Margerita proudly accepting the Mixed Pairs winners trophy for her and Spiros Tsouklas.

Michalis, Three W's , with his player award for 180 plus only losing 2 singles games this Winter.

That Seamonkey back again to collect the 501 Singles Winner award.

Not Again??? - Now he's back for the Round Robin Winner award!

The little tinker showing how he popped 3 x 180's plus a 9 dart 301 in the league.

Here's poor Mick Lewis, last years "Robin" winner thinking he only has a "Ghost" of a chance now!

Hippo Pete trying to find a treble against Mick. Good to see Mick back here after returning back to the UK for health reasons.

Those Kokalo (Armourada) boys of Stathis, Nickos, Leon.
(You will find Stathis at "Thalassa" this Summer. -Tell him to stop beating Negg in this game)

Hotel Marvelous proudly display their winners trophies for 301/501/Team and Pairs K/O's.

Finally - Back to reality.....

A fierce Arillas beach after the overnight weather.

Thanks to all those who joined me at Three W's , last night and to Anne who made sure the awards went to the right people. (Didn't have me reading specs)
A big thanks, from us all, to Pete n Jackie at Hippopots who donated the League winners plaques.
(One for each player together with Greek spelling of name and a caricature)
Bloody Super.
Cheers

I agree with you about getting more Greeks involved and other nationalities. There's nothing worse than an 'ex-pat' bar!

Eggy

Yer not wrong , there, Suzy.

League Winners , this Winter , were:-

Chrisanthos
Yiorgos
Spiros
Dimitris
Leszek
Michalis

Stathis (Armourada) best singles winner losing only 2 games.

Margerita n Spiros Tsoukalas - Mixed Pairs Winners

Valantis ( Marvel - Known better as the guy from Captains Table) - Best new player

We don't have ex-pat bars in Arillas.

Many nationalities play this game now. Watch the World Cup of Darts... Argentina, China, Japan, Austria, Finland, the list goes on - More than I do.

Cheers

Breaking News !!! - You heard it here first , guys!

Our "Sea Monkey" and Winter Marvel Team player, Andy Stewart, has just won the final of the Athens Pairs open , together with , well known Acharavi player, Rob. (Can't remember his surname)

On the way to the final they beat the Greek no.1 plus partner 3-0 , I am told.
Worth a trip to Athens then? - Makes me feel humble to win a leg from him occasionally!

He will now compete in the Athens Singles open tomorrow and I wish him the best of darts.

A super result for two guys who not only put much practice into this game of darts ,but also enjoy it as a sport and not a job.

Cheers

I can be (and often am) totally flippant, but I do follow the darts in Corfu's NW league, just like I follow the local cricket in Baltonsborough where I currently live. I even get invited to the annual dinner and awards for the cricket. Sadly I don't yet live in Corfu so an invitation to their awards would not be of any use to them or me.

But I love to hear of huge success like SeaMonkey's and Rob's. My sincere congratulations to them both on an outstanding achievement. Have watched Neill at his best in the past and quite understand why he has taken quite a few games from them. It is the love of ouzo and companionship that holds him back - but who am I to say - these are attitudes which I love, and why I only watch the darts. Bored to tears? Never.

Thanks Phil.

This Summer, 5 of us have got together to form the "NOMADS" league. We are Nomads because we will wander to every local Taverna, every other Thursday, to play a League game. One person will represent each Taverna to make six players and we then make a draw for two Teams of 3.
(A 7th guest player may also be invited - So there is always a change to who plays who)

Much interest, right now, as we try and link this to whom is on holiday.
Jersey Steve and Jersey John will be here, in August , to represent Rainbow and Night Owl.
Jinksy will be here in July to represent Armourada.
Capt Bob or young Yiannis may represent Tria Adelphia and we also have the likes of Xrisanthos and young Vasillis to represent their Bars. Plus others , of course.
(we hope to get Dimi and Paniotis from Rainbow, as well)

Our Group of 5 Nomads frighten me!!
Andy Stewart (Sea Monkeys) Athens Pairs plus Winter 501/301/Robin and Team K/O winner
Dave Gallagher (Sidari) Nice guy but a lot nicer if he stopped hitting treble 20's
Pete (Hippopots) Just won the first Sea Monkey singles K/O plus Winter Pairs. (Beat Andy in the final)
Doug Reason (Kavadaddes) Last years pairs winner with Capt Bob.(A 501 veteran from the Winter)
and... moi... with only a "Robin" losing final plus Team K/O win share plus Pairs K/O final to my name.

ANYONE BORED YET??

Our first match was last Thursday, at Marvel, and the luck of the draw was against me and Pete meeting those top 3 buggers!

Results were:-

Team A.
Andy - won 2-1. 2-1. 2 - 0.
Dave - won 2-1. 2- 0. 2-1
Doug - won 2-1. 2-1, 2-1,

Team B
Negg - Lost 2-1. 2-1. 2-1
Pete - Lost 2-1. 2-0, 2-0
Valantis (Representing Marvel) lost 2-1. 2-0
Spiros (Guest player - Brother of Costas) lost 2-0 (But had darts to win 2-0!)

28 scores of 100+ were recorded so you will see that this will be a very competitive small league.

We play for the "Jersey Challenge Cup" kindly donated by the "Jersey Boys"
So, watch this space guys.

ps. I was robbed!!

Anne

We were in Arillas for 2 whole months and going again for 2 weeks :-)

"NOMADS" play at Nickoletos, on the hill towards Ag.Stephanos, next Thursday.

Guest player is Vasilis (12 years old and already famous from last years Rainbow K/O) plus Nickos who went through to the 301 pairs final, last Winter.

Should be fun, as long as I don't play Mister C. Monkey.

Be there if you're here. Support is always welcome -

Cheers
