Val what date do you get there? We leave 30th August. Not staying at Mathraki this year as couldn't get booked but staying just around the corner at Arillas studios but will be using their pool as love it there.

What did you think of the horizon Chris by the way? Where did you eat etc love hearing around people's holidays

Hi Jo, sorry I forgot to post our experience.
The Horizon was absolutely superb. The room, bathroom, balcony and view, it has sold us, the beds were the most comfortable we have had on a holiday, we will definately return next year.
Daniela and Marinos greeted us upon arrival and made us feel like old friends despite it being our first visit.
The bar staff were always ready for a chat and laugh, and the cleaner and the cook and chef were all very friendly and the breakfast was 1st class with so much choice.
We ate in the restaurant two evenings and the standard of the meals, from starter to desert was superb. Whilst not the cheapest meal we had, the quality was worth it.
The beds around the pool and the hotels own beach beds were clean and comfy.
The resort is everything that we are looking for. Now our daughter wants to go away with her boyfriend, we are having holidays that suit our needs rather than having to cater for her wishes.
The locals are so friendly and we have fallen in love with Arillas, so much so that we have booked a week on October 5th.
We had a taxi both ways in June so that was 110 Euros, and we hired a car for a day which was 50 Euros, so we have decided to hire a car at the airport for the week, and return it on the morning we fly home for 156 Euros. This way if the weather is iffy, we can explore for the day.
Two return flights, a week at the Alex studios and the car for the week £610. No brainer
Reading this message board, I see how everyone seems to return to Arillas every year, we can see why, Arillas has another couple totally hooked.
I will post some more of our thoughts about the bars and restaurants at a later date.

PS, if anybody knows if Daniela has had her baby yet, it was due in August, we would love to know.

Hi Chris, so glad you liked the Horizon. The baby is due on 20th August and we have a "baby alert" setup for any news.

One person you didn't mention is Mary. She is an amazing cook and is always happy baking things for people and she loves to sing at the same time Since we first went to the Horizon we have always loved her cheesecakes. Last Saturday night, for our last holiday meal, Marinos said he had a surprise for us. We thought it was odd that we hadn't been asked if we wanted a dessert and then Makis walked out of the kitchen with a tray full of cheesecake covered in mixed fruit. It is the best cheesecake.

Then on Sunday, for breakfast, she had baked a galaktoboureko for us.

We are there again on Sep 11th

Have to agree about the cheesecake.  Since our first visit to the Horizon in 2003, we have been sold on their top quality cheesecake - it always seems to have been one of their specialities.
Might see you Terry around as we will be in Arillas at much the same time as you.

Can't believe we haven't been for 8 yrs!!! We want to go back next year though. Waiting for easy jet flights to come out first tho.
