           OUR beach blessing , which became the first of many blessing and marriages on Arillas beach

Eggy: I think the mermaid must have known she was not long for the world.  A couple of hours after that photo was taken the vandals did their worst and that was the end of the Arillas mermaid.  (Putting on my professional hat I'd say she should have been sited where people could keep her in sight - that is the best way to deter vandals.)
