Since there have been requests for information I think the thing you are trying to identify is the little white cord which prevents my swim briefs coming down when I dive in the pool - otherwise known as a diving cord.  I have tied it in a neat bow just like I do my shoe laces! Enlarged version of the photo herewith which might make it a bit clearer.

Kev asks whether Julia & I have been on holiday this year.  We had a couple of weeks in Tingaki, Kos early in May.   

We have just had a week in a cottage on a farm at Hogsthorpe, which is a mile from the Lincolnshire coast - spent lots of time on the beach during the heatwave, then son & grandson visited us which is how we came to be in the hot tub at the cottage.

Sadly will not be in Arillas this year, couldn't book the Kaloudis at times which suited us, so we are having another week in September at Tosside (near Settle) in a Scandinavian Lodge (which has also got a hot tub).

Son John is a Speedo wearer (black ones in the hot tub), and little William wears a sort of coverall thing.  I managed without either!
