HI

I think it is a

Wooly Aphids

in the plant where it came from is there cotton wool like left behind on the branches white

Aphids are tiny pear shaped insects usually green, yellow, red, brown red or black in colour.

They attack plants by accumulating in numbers along stems and new growth and sucking the sap of plants.

In large numbers they deprive the plant of energy to grow and the leaves yellow and die.

These insects secrete a substance called honeydew which attracts ants that harvest the sugary substance.

It is not the ants that are causing the damage, but the sap sucking aphids.

Quite often the underside of the plants will be covered with a black sooty mould.

Pyrethrum, a natural plant substance is an effective means of control.

At the first sign of these pests it is wise to apply pyrethrum at regular intervals to control the damage that aphids do.
These are white fluffy insects that accumulate in the branch clusters and the underside of leaves on apple trees and can cause poor growth in developing fruit.

They can be controlled by  methylated spirits , which kills them.

Get a cloth dab some petrol on it then wipe the branches
