Corfu: Alarming increase in covid-19 cases
Updated: 15 hours ago

Experts are concerned about the growth rates of covid-19 cases in Corfu in the last two 24 hours. The examinations by both EODY and the Hospital, record dozens of cases after today's, Monday, examinations.

EODY announced 21 cases in the last 24 hours, however, many of today's recordings are expected to be added to tomorrow's announcement.

In the Corfu hospital alone, until Monday morning, 15 cases had been confirmed through molecular PCR control, which were performed on patients who came to either the emergency or outpatient clinics or were admitted for treatment. It should be noted that due to workload, the EODY team has been withdrawn from the Hospital for weeks, as a result of which those who enter the island's nursing home as escorts are no longer controlled, only those who are finally admitted, a control done by the same the GNC.

An outbreak is also observed in Othonos, with at least 5 cases having been recorded in the last two 24 hours, with the result that tomorrow it will rush to the island of Akriti for extensive inspections.

The 15 cases in Pavliana and the 5 in Skripero after the current controls of EODY, are added to the 4 and the 5 cases respectively (which were recorded until Saturday), while another 7 cases were recorded from the scale that did the tests outside the Municipal Theater is still raising the number, while three students today declared a positive test with the reopening of schools.

In Corfu: EODY reports 53 known new positive cases today in Corfu bringing the total so far this month to 197.

Too many. 😢

In Greece: New virus infections jump to 3,197

The number of new infections announced by Greek health authorities jumped to 3,197 on Tuesday versus 1,904 on Monday.

This raised the total number of confirmed cases to 367,076, the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) said in its daily bulletin.

The data showed 52 patients died from Covid-19, raising the total number of fatalities to 11,141. The total number of intubated patients remained stable at 732. Their median age was 67.

Harold we are flight only. They can arrange the tests at £90 each but I cant see that it includes the pre departure home test.

Hi Sonia
The £90 test ftom TUI includes the pre return home kit but as you know it is for package deal customers only.
AMBER+ – £90 per person. Contains 1x PCR test for your journey to your holiday destination, with courier costs seven days a week included, 1x pre-departure antigen (rapid flow) test for your journey back from your holiday destination and 2x PCR tests for days 2 and 8 after you return home.

Have a look at this company who provide what they call  Test to Release Home COVID-19 Test Kit £98

Hi, just an update re the PCR test hoopla. As I understand it, the Greek govt has stated that all UK visitors must provide proof of a negative PCR test taken no less than 72 hours of arrival... BUT, they have also announced that proof of completed vaccination course ( 2 jabs) will also be acceptable. For those that have had 2 jabs, from Monday 17th, an individuals vaccination records will be available to get uploaded on to the NHS app on your smartphone / tablet. This app is not to be confused with the NHS covid 19 track and trace app. For those who don't want to rely on technology, you can get an official NHS vaccination certificate by phoning 119. I think you will need your NHS number and then the system will then contact your GP who will issue the all important paperwork. You must not contact your GP directly, that's not how it works. This I think is progress... however, the big show stopper is the UK govt requirement for all returning visitors to have a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before returning to the UK. I have only managed to find one clinic / lab on Corfu that offers this service. They are called THERAPIA, based in Corfu Town, open 24 /7 and they are offering tests for €50. Maybe someone might like to check them out?.. Hope this info helps? Things change daily so in a few weeks it may all be very different.

Cheers Jon, interesting. We seem to be moving in the right direction at least ...

Hi

Just heard on the news that there is concern that the private test centre's will be overwhelmed with tests, especially as 100's of 1000's are submitted for the Fit To Travel Test, if required for your destination, and will find it difficult to keep up with the demand.

Many thanks for finding this other establishment where we can get tested, however, no mention of price!... I would hope that one of the local travel companies in Arillas would be organising group trips to such a lab or clinic, because as these are mostly likely to be in Corfu Town, the return taxi  costs will add another €100 to the PCR experience!... Thanks again... Jon Bell

Hi

Just read in a travel item in the press that you can order a Return Home test from Qured for £39.
You order a kit before you leave the UK
3 days before you depart you have a video consultation with a nurse. Results are available in 15 mins and a GP signed travel certificate is delivered by e mail.

Keep safe

Hi
You do not need to pay £120 E/W you can use your own kits from Boots
Or someone you know who works in the NHS to get the kits for you free

I thought that NHS ones were not being accepted to stop people misuing it?

As Geoff said we might need them I still go whatever

Kev

Those are lateral flow ones though and it is PCR ones that are needed. It's ok Greece saying they will accept vaccination certificates but our gov are stating you must have a PCR test 72 hours before departure and I wonder therefore if they will let you on the plane UK side without one.
