Hi
Understand the Arillas recyling centre has had to close due to non recyclable material being dumped there.
Will reopen one the site has been cleared.

I will check it out, although in this weather , much is passing though their doors and collections, from there, cannot keep up.
(Only takes a day to fill a large "dumpy" bag with plastic water bottles!!)
Cheers

Hi

Shame on the flytippers. Although such people dont normally have any shame.
I wonder whose rubbish it was ?

The problem is that the Recylce Centre is manned by volunteers so, quite often , no one there. They do have , I beleive , a couple of bins for usual waste and it could be that they became an overflow hazard as recent delays in emptying local rubbish bins.
(That nearly resolved now as all Kavadaddes bins were cleared yesterday-Sunday!!)
I was in the centre, yesterday, and back there today. I hope to catch someone who may shed more light on the problem.

Good luck with the refuse problem - sounds as if things are improving.
I note your tag line about Boris.  Have met him twice over the last couple of years and shaken his hand - the last time a couple of weeks before he became PM.  Am convinced that he can do Brexit.

Best wishes
Pat

Am always concerned about refuse, and would not want to stray too far from the topic.  However have noticed the wise words Geoff quotes by N.F. and they make me recall what Sir Winston Churchill said, ""Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others."

Perhaps we'd better stick to rubbish and forget the politics"

Best wishes

Sticking to rubbish , of the Arillas kind. There are so many full "dumpy" bags awaiting collection. - Cardboard , Tins , plastic bottles etc etc.
All nicely recyled just awaiting the wagons to take them away. So much there. I will take the camera tomorrow.
(To take pics , not to dump it)

Regarding the rubbish situation (I'll keep away from politics!!)

Jill & I spent another two wonderful weeks in Arillas early last Month and noticed how clean everywhere was.

Last Year the dumping area on the road down from Mathraki was always very full & very smelly - This Year nothing at all.

However we had a drive around and noticed some of the larger resorts still had huge mounds of refuse on the outskirts - I guess the likes of Sidari must generate huge amounts and very difficult to deal with?

On our travels we also noticed a number of other recycling centres which was great to see the effort put in to help alleviate the issue.

Full of praise for this initiative and hopefully will continue to improve the situation.
