😂😂
Hi
Val was not very happy either.
Just bought mine at Debenhams for 1.13+ with a voucher from a comparison web site. 1.10 without the voucher.
Also get £5 off voucher to spend in store which is another saving.
Do not like using credit cards for cash transactions abroad as most charge interest from date of withdrawal. So what little you may gain you loose in charges. Dont know about the Halifax Clarity Card though
Geoff

Yes, Halifax Clarity do charge interest on ATM withdrawals but if the balance is paid off as soon as you return home the amount is negligible.

Hi
As I understand it you have to pay in full before the statement payment date to avoid any charges with the Halifax card, otherwise you are charged .
This may mean making a payment whilst on holiday to avoid charges if the statement date falls whilst away.
I did use a credit card once on holiday (in the days of Traveller Cheques) for my expenditure, but prior to departure I made a payment to the card of my expected holiday transactions so I was in credit. Which meant no charges were applied as I was never in debt.
Now days I just take cash
Geoff

No charges when withdrawing from ATM on Halifax Clarity Card, only interest from day one

kevandelke

Correct. Interest being a charge.  Top the card up with a credit balance and a cash withdrawals won't even have interest.

Hi We used our nationwide flex account and got 1.138 for £1 used in the atm (Pireus bank) and choose decline the rate offered (1.05) then the exchange is done by your UK bank
Saves taking cash with you and get best rates!
Hope that helps
Mike
ps back 3 days and missing Arillas already lol

Truth

Are there any charges at all on the Nationwide Flex Card ?
Great rate that is and I am with Nationwide
Wolverhampton Wanderers, pride of The Midlands......

Truth

Looks like a 2% fee is charged for withdrawing cash abroad with Nationwide
Wolverhampton Wanderers, pride of The Midlands......

jebbo

The standard Flex card makes a charge. If you have a Flexplus account (paid for) it is charge free.

Hi
If you dont mind me saying so, it does not matter what ATM you use to withdraw euro.
The Exchange rate is set by your card provider, not the ATM or ts provider.
Which is why it was recently said always use the local currency wherever you are when making a card purchase and do not pay in sterling if asked.

It's simple ... The card provider , provides the exchange rate not the ATM , who provides a service nor the ATM provider who leaves the exchange rate to the card provider because they are not allowed to provide a service as they are linked to the card provider who understandably says they cannot provide the exchange as the ATM are pals , only providing they follow the rules, and have provided suitable credentials.
I will read this again, tomorrow , providing I am not provided with Ouzos , prior to providing a big sorry for typing , for which I cannot provide a suitable answer, except it was late here. (Best delete it now - Providing I hit the wrong button!)
