Is it better to get euros before we arrive or is the exchange rate better there ?

somersetsteve

Hi Julie, buy your euros online from somebody like The Currency Club before you come but watch out for postage charges. Or, even better, get a charges free debit card like the Nationwide FlexPlus account card and draw your euros from an ATM when you are there. (The Nationwide FlexPlus account does have a monthly charge but, as well as free ATM withdrawals also offers free worldwide travel insurance and car breakdown cover so is well worth it) PS I don't work for Nationwide 😃

Get a Halifax Clarity credit card, it cannot be beaten. Best exchange rate by far. As recommended by Martin Lewis

I agree with John, the Halifax Clarity  Card is well having. Take money out whilst away and pay off balance a soon as you get home.

Hi
Buying mine this week so keeping and eye on rates.
On line rates have crept up a little again. In fact Debenhams is number two on the list from about 8th earlier on. With free delivery
Dont think rates will go up much. They have really only risen slightly as the Trump trade war threat seems to a bit of a no go now, and the UK interest rate now not likely to rise shortly as predicted.
Barclays is offering 1.08 on line!!!!!!!! I suppose somebody will buy at that rate

😂😂
Hi
Val was not very happy either.
Just bought mine at Debenhams for 1.13+ with a voucher from a comparison web site. 1.10 without the voucher.
Also get £5 off voucher to spend in store which is another saving.
Do not like using credit cards for cash transactions abroad as most charge interest from date of withdrawal. So what little you may gain you loose in charges. Dont know about the Halifax Clarity Card though

I wonder if Debenhams rate will go down tomorrow and it's a genuine "currency sale" or if they will still be very competitive after then?   Their sale was supposed to last two days from Monday , hopefully they will still have a good rate going forwards.
